Fabia Vrs using coolent

Featured Replies

I had my engine replaced 10,000 miles ago and I have had to top up the coolent twice since then. My concern is that before my engine was replaced it never used any coolent and their is no sign of a leak or cream on the oil cap. Has any one got any ideas before I go back to the dealers

Could just be leaking from a pipe - in any case I'd get it straight back to the dealer. You shouldn't have to top up coolant...

Can you confirm why and how you are topping up?

Are you filling it to the Max on the Filler/Expansion Bottle.

Then running it , finding it is back between MIN & Max and then refilling again?

It will often drop and show after being filled to MAX,

setting its own level and stay there.  As does every Twincharger i have checked.

Or is it actually dropping to Min,

& then still going lower yet again?  Requiring you to top it up?

Maybe leave it above the Minimum as i do, and just see, and no opening the lid, or topping up.

If it is losing Coolant from above the Minimum then you do have a problem.

I had the same after a new engine.  I was using tiny amounts of coolant but had to top up frequently. In the last couple of weeks I started to use a litre in about 150 miles and the coolant lamp would illuminate hence a trip to the dealer last week. The new engine is now at12000 miles  and its Just had a new radiator which is completely different and appears more compact than the old one. Its well worth getting yours back to the dealer and hopefully it wont be anything too major....

That's not right shouldn't use coolant top up now and again but that's a joke
