Classic Skodas! Popular, Rapid, 1102...

Featured Replies

I now have more Skodas than I know what to do with (6)!

And with only one running reliably (Superb II) and the rest needing some attention (including the Estelle still sitting forlornly on my drive), I think I'm going to have to part with a few. Not to mention I may have overextended myself a little financially... :)

Blue one is a 1951 1102 Tudor.

First Red one is a 1939 Popular.

Second Red one is a 1936 Rapid II Tudor.

All from a private collection in Holland. To give you an idea, asking prices were approx. £12,500, £7,950 and £6,500 respectively but I bought them with a fourth (Rapid Cabriolet - £9,500 which I have big plans for!), I got them a bit cheaper (then I had to get them here of course). As to value, there is one 1938 (I think) Rapid for sale in the UK which they want £12-13K for (I asked), and prices vary wildly in CZ from several thousand for a restoration project, to tens of thousands for a concours example (whether anyone pays that, I do not know).

All NOVA-notified (stupid new VAT scheme which even pre-VAT cars imported into the UK need to be registered with) and will have V5 etc. All almost perfect aesthetically (except interior of Rapid which is a bit threadbare - but still has original glass ashtrays mounted under rear quarterlights!!), but some mechanical restoration/recommissioning will be needed. Engines turn freely.

Any questions, please feel free to ask!

Didn't want to advertise far and wide as I'd secretly like to have them all!  But thank you for posting it there - I've joined the FB page now too.

And will be joining the SOC as well... checked the page but no updated form for 2014 - should I use the same one?

Yeah just use the form there. The website is being redeveloped currently so hopefully have something better in the near future.

  Will you marry me? PM sent!

PM replied! Here's some pictures of the Cabriolet for interest...

The red ones are particularly nice, sadly I don't have money for either!

All NOVA-notified (stupid new VAT scheme which even pre-VAT cars imported into the UK need to be registered with)

Don't get me started on that crap!  :@

Thought about putting this is the "For Sale" section but if it's OK, I'd like to leave it here - after all I haven't said "For Sale", just that I 'might' need to part with a few (spoken like a true addict).

Of course I had no problem getting the Freedom membership to avoid any ambiguity!

Some nice looking examples you have there, I would love to have a 1930's Citroen traction or a ford model y, or maybe a historic skoda of some kind, but alas they are well out of my price range.

I can see that "Freedom" brings me the ability to post more pictures, so here are some more sets!

And to clarify - all cars are in the UK. Awaiting registration due to the NOVA faff and the sheer irritation of the DVLA office closing last week...

I can't recommend that buffalox, have you seen the state of his own cars? Me however.....

They do need a bit of mechanical love to turn them from Museum Exhibit to Daily Driver so don't tempt me!!

All are currently awaiting/getting inspections from a local pre-war car specialist. Early verdict on the Chassis and Body of the 1102 is that they are in outstanding condition. Engine is being pulled to be checked thoroughly as we speak (well, probably not - they've likely gone home by now...). Popular is sitting on my drive as it sustained a knock to the bonnet in transit so I should try and get that fixed. Rapid Tudor is hiding in a garage somewhere and the Cabrio is next in line for an inspection.

I recommend using jim stokes workshops for historic car repairs and restorations.

To be honest Buffalox I really don't think this is the place to advertise them......it's mostly a Skoda performance site (hence the name) and I would hedge a bet that most of the paying members have Octavia VRS or Fabia VRS. In fact I'm not even sure the 'old Skoda' market is what you need because they are so old (if it was then I would say Skoda Owners Forum or Skoda Owners Facebook site) - I reckon your market is probably classiccars.com or even Ebay where the wider market will pick them up....or possibly even a classic car publication.

Hi hawkeracing,

I'm happy to put something up in the SOC magazine but I'm not desperate to offload them. I 'm just realistic about time and money (well, sometimes I am), but I do appreciate your tips! I'll check out some of the usual suspects and maybe put together an ad if (when) I start running out of money credit. I like briskoda as I get lots of Skoda Superb info. and had some good advice for my Estelle too. :)

@TeflonTom - I don't know how I missed Jim Stokes as they are so close... Might give them a call... Any idea what their hourly rate is (or indeed what a reasonable rate is for this type of specialist)?
