'Skoda Fabia MK2 vRS to be discontinued', announcement. Now Sales are up.

Featured Replies

Using, How many left. com. to check, there are now just over 2,400 Twincharger Skodas on UK roads

http://howmanyleft.co.uk

It looks like there were 100 or so vRS registered each quarter in 2012,

in 2011 it looks like around 300 a quarter,

but in 2013 an increase over 2012,  to 200 new Twinchargers per quarter First Registered in the UK.

Only 50 Seat Cupra First Registered each quarter in 2013,

& nearly no VW Polo GTI's. (100 new registrations so far in 2013)

Funny thing is the Audi A1 185 ps, S-A (semi automatic)

there used to be lots advertised for sale on Autotrader, over 100 cars

Used Ex Demonstrators, some with mileage showing on them,

many dealers had them, and some were sold obviously.

Now shows only 24 cars Registered in the UK & 1 on SORN.

That looks like Audi bought up those cars and removed them from UK Registration , or someone exported them.

Possibly Audi removing their Lemons & non sellers to save embarrassment of used cars not selling.

** Strange that 'How many left' only shows less than 20 as ever being Registered in the UK in 2012.

maybe my mind playing tricks and all those Audi Dealers were not sitting with unsold cars. last year

Plenty of A1 185 ps owners were on forums reporting they had High Oil Consumption problems just like owners of other VAG Twinchargers..

EDIT,

My Bad, Found them.

Audi A1 s-line tfsi 185 S-A,  488 of them Registered in the UK, so over 500 of them in total out and about.

About 50 new first registered in 2013 & a few less on SORN.

2,400, Fabia vRS

1350, Ibiza Cupra

1150, Polo GTI

500, A1 185 ps

So something like over 5450, 180-185 ps Twinchargers with DSG in the UK up till Oct 2013

Hmmm, is it me or has the title of this thread nothing to do with the OP's first post?

?  What title do you want,or how do you want it to read,  i can change it if you like.?

(i have EDITed into the title, 'now'.)

Which first post,

the title is what the title is!  I am the OP & it is the post as i wrote it.

As suspicious now of Skoda and the timing of the announcement and the wording of it as when i first read it.

Sales are up in 2013 over 2012, sales are continuing to rise since the CEO announced in the second half of 2013 & was reported to have announced that the vRS name was not to be used on a Mk 3 Fabia.

Funnily no announcement on when Production is actually to stop of Fabia Mk2's or Twinchargers..

Hmmm, is it me or has the title of this thread nothing to do with the OP's first post?

Nope, it isn't just you.  No idea what point the thread creator was trying to make ???

Hardly a glowing endorsement of the Fabia vRS by the Skoda CEO, perhaps Skoda will give up on pursuing the boy racer market and produce a more sensible Fabia next year?  The world is changing people!

As i read read the reports of the Statements by the CEO & other Skoda Spokespeople it is the Boy Racer market they want.

Continue the Monte Carlo theme.

Style and Sporty Looks and low insurance costs.

Look nippy and a bit nippyish but not much go really. Show without go basically.

'People want to have the look or a vRS' Dr. Vahland said'.

'Sports seats, alloys, body kit.....etc, but the functionality of a normal Fabia,

if they really want a real vRS get an Octavia.'  (paraphrasing there, maybe his words were mis-reported.)

*Functionality requires Skoda/VW/Audi/Seat to build 100% reliable engines and cars, so it is a Dr Vahland FAIL

on that front,he was there when they were launched,

because it can be used just like a 'Normal Fabia' when not one that might be going wrong on buyers.*

A big loss in sales to them certainly with all the Twincharger Models, but that is down again to Dr Vahland

So just the Octavia vRS for the Boy Racers.

They are taking the R5 1.6T Rallying though,

so maybe that will be in the form of a Rapid if it is not to be a mk3 Fabia Bodyshell shape used.
