Remove Skoda Fabia Mk1 radio - keys don't work

Featured Replies

Hi friends.

I have Skoda Fabia Mk1. I was recently given a new radio and wanted to fit it yesteray. I recently ordered two keys to remove the radio, but one of the removal holes of the radio seems to be dodgy. The keys fit perfectly in the right side hole, but the one on the left side won't go deeper than a certain level. I feels like the hole might be blocked.

Which is the best way to still remov the radio without breaking it?

If you take glovebox out you may be able to see if anything is blocking the hole. Also you may be able to move the HU around a bit and see if it will either come out or the locking pin will pop back into place.

I used planer blades to do mine on the dozen or so times

I had the radios in and out of my Fabias.

There's a bit more to them than radio keys.

But they are very sharp so i wrapped the ends in insulating tape

so I wouldn't cut my fingers.

Alternatively try a broken junior hacksaw blade.

Kenwood keys worked on mine. Bloody tight tho.

+1 for Kenwood keys.

I was lucky to have some lying around. Mine came from Halfords (item number PC5-106).

Has same problem tried all the keys my local shop had none fitted so cut up a credit card to the right size as the hole and stuck true

In! Worked a treat don't need a specific shape all it does is push two catchs out the way then u can pull the unit out

+1 Hacksaw blade
