Fuel filler door

Featured Replies

I've managed to break my fuel filler door - don't ask how but needless to say it was an act of extreme clumsiness followed by some extreme language.

I've glued it - amazingly it still works but it's unsightly and I can't see it lasting.

The local dealer wants £25 for a new door which comes primed so it's going to cost a further £45 or there abouts to get it sprayed and fitted!

I've searched for one from a scrapper, but as it's a rare item - yeti in muscavado don't seem to have been written off many times I may have to spend what will be near the £100 mark once VAT is added etc.

Any ideas - I could get any scrapped door, but painting it myself is not easy or cheap as I can't find an off the shelf can and fitting it looks a bit of a bit of a nightmare, for someone clumsy enough to break it in the first place.

I'm really hoping one of you might have one lying around...

Oh dear....  It's going to be an expensive Christmas present to yourself, isn't it?  :(

Skoda should be able to supply you with a genuine rattle can and laquer combi pack for ~ £12

Skoda couldn't find the part number for the can of paint, they seemed to have a good look and the paint name and number has changed which seems odd.

Try Bickertons/Rainworth or Hortons.....they all do mail order

One of those 'smart repair' chappies like Dent Wizard will match & paint for reasonable cost if Horton's can't supply painted.

Believe you could/can order these pre-painted.

Is there anyone in your areat hat could 'professionally' repair it?

The cost might be cheaper than other alternatives.

I'll call Hortons Monday thanks for the tip. Might try the local dent people too, they could spray a primed door for less than I got quoted and fix a few dents I have too.

Muscovado Spray is no longer available - Part number HFB381096

If you go to your local motor paint factor with the paint code they will mix the paint in a can for you. If it is metalic it will be a base coat plus a laquer.

Probably less than £20 for the two.

I have done the same many times for various cars.

I think even halfrauds do a paint can service.
