Sprayed the silver dashboard parts satin black

Featured Replies

When I bought the 2008 Fabia in August, I was having problems with the dashboard side vent trims being visible in the side windows. They are/were silver and were in the line of sight for the side mirrors on bright days.

I had thought about changing the silver to carbon fiber effect, so bought some off fleabay and had a disaster trying to fit it, the material was far too thick to manage and get a successful covering on such small fiddly parts.

While I had the vents out of the car and in pieces, I thought it only right to try painting them satin black to cure the reflection problem. I cleaned the parts and applied a plastic primer before top coating in satin black.

This was the result: (you can see the original silver colour on the door handle)

The hardest part was getting the centre vent out of the dash. I'm sure I broke parts of it and ended up glueing them back together.

It seems to have cured the ugly reflection problem I was having and toned down the cheap silver on the dashboard.
