If I didn't have a Skoda I'd want a....

If your Skoda disappeared and you couldn't replace it with another Skoda, what would you consider buying (for similar dosh) instead, and why?

If my mk1 Octy vrs (52 plate) gave up the ghost (and I couldn't replace it with another vrs), I'd consider a Jaguar S-Type R. Purely for speed reasons, with ample comfort thrown in :D

My Skoda is disappearing. I'm replacing it with lots of welded on plates.

Audi A6 All Road 3.0 BiTurbo Diesel, over 300bhp and 4x4 in a practical body.

Have already specced one and with plenty of options can get around £14k off through drive the deal.

Waits for the flaming from Big Jase...

VW Polo to replace my Fabia!

If I couldn't spec a VAG group car then a Fiat 500 XL 4x4 or Fiat Panda 4x4

2nd hand VW pheaton W12 - depreceation has been hammered & despite expensive running costs initial purchase very cheap.

Something with 4 circles on the front :) oh and more than likely with 4WD

If my Skoda disappeared I'd go out and bloody find it :D

I'd replace with a Saab, oh wait....

What about a mk2f polo van, Ah.....  :D  (I have a problem.....)

I did replace mine with a 330d.

The joys of reliable motoring and handling!

I have a problem.....

You're not quite Richard (BossFox) yet ;)

Freelander, or a Sportage.

Another 405 td estate.

It was comfortable, handled, took crazy sized loads, weather never stopped her-passing many a stranded car in deep snow, gave many a would be racer a fright after tinkering with the mechanical fuel pump and best of all ran even better on 75% SVO from tesco at £1 per litre.

The only complicated thing electronic was the CD player!

Enjoyable motoring :-)

For similiar money to an octy mk1 vrs.... Hmmmmm. Probably get an audi a4 estate 2.5tdi quattro or if my bets came in id get an X3 :|

True, but I am doing well on a much much smaller budget :D  £250 Saab, £300 porsche, £200 polo van.....

I don't own a skoda anymore but if I get a new job then I will have to change my Cee'd. I'm struggling to find anything I really like. I'll potentially be doing 35k a year just commuting and I like to drive so it needs to have some fun to it.

If not a Skoda then maybe a Jag XJ Diesel or an Audi A7.

If I had to replace with value of my Cee'd now then probably an S-Type diesel.

This was my practical alternative to the STR.

Poor Skoda

For all those suggesting VAG replacements for their Skodas - COP OUT!

Volvo C30 D5 R Design

does everything that the Fabia does and keeps the oddity factor associated with our favoured Czech manufacturer

Jaguar XF or a Volvo S60 (new style, looks similar to the Jag).

I second your choice of XF but would go for an XF Sportbrake

I've already left skoda but for my next car I really want a volvo v70

Difficult one there, i would either have a RS6 Avant or a Jaguar xf shooting brake (not anything like a Yeti or Monte I know, but they were both on the list prior to my Monte purchase)

VW Golf or failing that, a Seat Leon (don't like the Ibiza) unless you couldn't have VAG cars as replacements.

Definitely nothing French, I've had my bad experiences with Peugeot and owning one of them for 7 months was too long, by about 6 and a half months.

Or a Ford because they're unreliable, or a Valxhall because of their gearboxes going bang, or a Mini or Nissan micra/Juke because face it, who wants to drive around in something that looks like that? Wouldn't touch Toyota after all those serious recalls they've been having for steering, and brakes ext.

So I'd probably have to go with a Suzuki Swift or a  Honda Civic.

Hmmm I have wanted the volvo c30 redesign d5 for ages, they look stunning and I love the engine sound of the d5 lump when giving it some welly. But volvos are expensive to run!

I also like the new fiesta st. They look great and the seats are superb.

Maybe a focus st with the t5 engine :)

would have to be a Volvo XC90 R design geartronic, and next year with the new model out I might pick up a bargain.
