Park Distance Graphics

Featured Replies

I have an 09 Octy vRS with front and rear parking sensors, a friend of mine has an 09 VW Touran and when he reverses his RNS510 displays an image of the car with red and orange graphics showing how close he is to any obstacles.

Is this option available on my Octy, is it something VCDS can do or not available at all.

Cheers

my 2013 car does it on the bolero, so does my dads 2012 se connect, I would assume all cars with sensors should do it.

I would have thought being a FL model, it should by default but I guess it may be that yours was made just before the module and wiring changes were incorporated which allow this.  I have added it on my pre-FL and it is a bit of a faff but not too expensive - there is a long thread on this with all the necessary information here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/261422-pdc-ops-advice/

If you have a VCDS scan of your car and the parking module is at address 76 (and not 10) you will need to go through this procedure to get this.

The colour is dependent on make (VW use Orange on a Grey background)

Skoda uses shades of Blues

You can check the coding on the PDC to see if it is coded to display, I think the columbus has to have a certain firmware too.

You might need to upgrade the module if it doesn't allow optical

Is this the correct module?

look at the long coding

Thanks for the reply.

What do you mean look at the long coding. I am not so useful with VCDS and have borrowed a friends cable.

What am I looking for exactly.

Thanks again

Control Modules > Address 10 Park steer Assist > Coding > Long Coding

it will be in byte 1 optical display

tick box > exit > do it

Thanks again for the reply.

So am I to understand by doing what you suggested will turn on the optical display option.

Thanks

try it and find out

This works on a 2005 Octavia MK II, I'm sure it's there and capable on the MK 2 FL also.

On the MK II, pre-FL there was an option on the radio that enabled or disabled it, under the radio settings.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm curious.

My 06 L&K has rear parking sensors with a crude display on the Stream screen.

Does anyone know if front sensors are easily added to the system?

@hungry horace; the good news is that the parking module is at address 10 already. It should hopefully be either a coding issue as Eddie has suggested or a Columbus firmware issue, either of which are relatively easily rectified.

Thanks for all the help and replies. Car is not with me today so can't check everything out until tomorrow.

Does anyone know what the minimum Columbus firmware is for the optical display.

Try my-gti.com, but whether it is firmware related is only a guess to be honest.

Do you know how to find this as I have a 57 reg 08 with columbus? Thanks

Not easily, but they can be.

I'll dig out a picture later to prove it.

Follow the threads on adding front sensors to existing rear sensors and you'll see what to do.

J306TD: For it to work on a Columbus in your car you will need to follow the guide I linked to above. I suspect the thing cheezemonkhai is referring to is related to the much more basic Stream stereo display (which works with the older module you currently have).

cheezemonkhai: Correct me if I am wrong though.

My is orange (no RED) with latest and previous firmware the same:

Here's the Stream MP3 graphics showing rear sensors active, but the front are the same.

Thanks for all the replies. Eddie was right, went into long coding and there were two checkboxes, 1 for rear camera and 1 for optical parking, checked the relevant box and I now have the graphics displayed on my Colombus.

Thanks all

whats the cable i need for a 05 reg octavia to activate this ??

Its a VCDS cable (see: http://www.ross-tech.com/distributors.html), but in your case it will be more than just an activation. Hungry Horace's car is FL with the parking module already installed that supports this on the Columbus.  However, on a pre FL car like yours, you need to add a different module and make some wiring changes (http://www.briskoda....pdc-ops-advice/)
