At times like this it makes you want to sell up!

I'm know that Chris had the engine in his highly tuned Fabia SE (the one with the yellow wheels) replaced due to a solid engine part being cracked. Can't remember if it was block or piston or cyclinder but i'm pretty sure Ross - another member with a highly tuned SE - had a similar problem.

It does seem to be a week point of the later BLT engines, i know Chris/Unit18 replaced his with an earlier ASZ engine

Or 1.8T it

After Richard put £7k+ into making it a 270bhp diesel monster? Ouch

I didn't realise it was Richards old car :giggle:

Had a smoke problem with mine...

Took it to my local reliable garage,

3 long weeks later I had 2 new pistons, new crankshaft bearings, refurbed turbo, new flywheel and a wheel bearing really it's a full engine rebuild

My car is now sound and runs like a new car :) hopefully this isn't your problem as it is VERY expensive. I spend just shy of £2000 on mine but happy now. Fingers crossed you don't have this problem...

Not really sure how much it is going to cost at present time - guess the garage will have to source a new engine !!

I am guessing it may take some time, good job they have given me a courtesy car (which will add to the bill)

The engine is standard, the head was only taken off to be polished in the hope it would let it breath a bit better and help with smoke.

So it's got a standard head and block.

You should be able to get another block for little money as there are vRS's being broken.  So shouldn't be an expensive fix, although inconvenient as it means taking the engine out.

At 35k it's done 13,000 miles since the tuning, including two track days and four Santa Pod days with me before it did track time with you.

Just for info.

Hope you get it sorted.

Don't let the garage take the pee, you can source a new block for sensible money.

Thanks for this I will be in contact.

Forgive my ignorance but does it matter which engine it i.e is the block the same for both??
