Octy always cold when driving?

Hi all, I've noticed recently my car mpg is around 17mpg that's normal ( Nan's driving) my temp gauge never hits 90 no where near and my heaters feel loop warm??

When I sit in traffic for a min it will reach 90?

Is this a thermostat symtom? Would this also cause bad mpg?

Etc was changed 3 months ago

Thanks

If the CTS isn't reporting 90 (in conditions when the gauge is), then I might be tempted to suggest that maybe both the CTS and stat were bust.

I think your right, I'm horrid to say but I put a cheap cts in 3 months ago :s from locals parts place.. I've prob got a bust therm and cts!!

With that as confirmation, I would replace the CTS first.  As as been said many time on here before buy a proper VAG one, otherwise you stand a good chance of having to buy another!

Im having the same issue. Sitting in traffic the temp will sit hapily at 90oC, take it above 30 and it drops to 40oC depending on how fast you go. Demisters are not that warm and have heating control up to full temp when traveling at speed.

I am however still getting good MPG on the A roads. Anywhere between 38/42 mpg.
