Simply Clever !

Featured Replies

We've all heard the Skoda slogan, but with more use of my car I've come to really appreciate just how accurate their " Simply Clever" boast is . From indicating vehicle and mobile phone battery status, switching music info whilst still seeing vehicle data, the so - useful headlight assist, the fantastic boot net system & curry hooks, the ice scraper in the fuel filler, to the never mentioned removable side pieces in the boot that fold and "stick" to the boot floor to secure any size package - all simply brilliant I reckon, and on a car that's a pleasure to drive too !

They have really done well. Looked around and so many marques are still just doing the "basics" like a cup-holder or two. These bits don't cost much, but they save on clutter and create a coherent feel to the car throughout.

Folding side bits that stick to the floor? Not in my VRS, is this an elegance feature? Ta

Really?  I have them in my vRS.

Think they're hatch only as my combi doesn't have them either

Mine is a combi.

2013 vRS Estate and it has the 2 little things that velcro to the boot floor.

Mine the same but doesn't have them, the one that clip out of the little bin on the side? Do you have canton by chance?

Yes - I got the Canton

Yes - I got the Canton

That explains it then, you have the sub on the left of the boot so you get the plastic ' in' on the right that the little plastic things that stick to the floor clip out of yes?

Without canton you don't get these, only a 'bin' on the right without them.

Not much good with a rubber boot mat though.

Whilst cleaning interior noticed a plastic holder for a fluorescent vest under the driver's seat - minus the vest. I appreciate it's not a legal requirement in the UK but as a simply clever safety feature I would have thought Skoda would include one. The one I had in the boot now has a home.

Yeah I have the rubber mat so don't need to worry about things sliding round.

I keep meaning to 'borrow' a high vest from work to put in there. :)

Just been and put an high-vis vest in the little pocket under the seat, was a bit of a mission, had to fold it up really small and then force it in so it wasn't poking out.

Indeed those are very practical. Compared to my previous Skoda Octavia II Combi 1.8 TDI 105 Ambiente my new Octavia III Combi 1.6 TDI 105 Ambition is missing the boot net system and the storage compartment under the front passenger seat. I will just but them separately :)

Was rather smug using the ice scraper this morning...

There is storage under the seats? Anything else I should know about?

I dont have canton and have them two on both sides. elegance, combi.

VRS Combi

Small drawer under passenger and hi-viz vest compartment below drivers (less hi viz vest of course!)

Will check under seats. Thanks

I didn't know about that option and switching from Diesel to Petrol there's always a risk when you are tired and running on auto mode.

Got me thinking what other "Simply Clever" features do you like?

Regarding the "Ice scrapper" what's stopping someone from taking it - is the filler flap locked when parked?

Simply Clever: Misfuelling prevention

We’ve designed the car’s fuel tank access port so it only fits the appropriate pump nozzle. Try pumping petrol into a diesel ŠKODA and you won’t be able to. Simply Clever, isn’t it? It’s just one more sensible, everyday reason you know you’ve made the right choice when you select ŠKODA.

Yes - the filler cap locks with the central locking.

They have been that way for a while - petrol pumps are wider than diesel, nothing stops you putting diesel in a petrol though..  Still less damage doing it this way

Other way round, diesel nozzle is wider.

really?

ahh well 50/50 chance and I got it wrong..

50/50/90 rule. 50% chance of getting it right but a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

unless it's answering a question to a woman - then it's a 50/50/100 :)
