Simply Clever !

Featured Replies

In accordance with the standard EN 13012 the diameters of fuel nozzles at all gas stations are the same.

The narrower petrol fuel nozzle has a standard diameter of 21mm. The diesel fuel nozzle is wider with the diameter of 25mm.

Like the idiot proof fail-safes :drunk:

Yes but some idiot will still manage to squeeze the 25mm nozzle into the 21mm hole - like a child with that hammer and peg set.. Then have to call roadside assistance to remove the nozzle before draining :)

So how does the Skoda Simply Clever system work then to stop you putting petrol in a diesel then? I can't work it out  :S

Two more silmly clever details I've noticed:

- the plastic tool for removing the wheel bolt caps

- the plastic tool for removing fuses, attached to the lid of the engine compartment fuse box

Haven't seen any pictures from Skoda specific but I guess the diameter of the small petrol nozzle doesn't touch and release the two trigger points to open up the internal lock system. Something like the photo at the link below may be?

Agreed stupid is as stupid does (dumb and dumber scenario)

We've all heard the Skoda slogan, but with more use of my car I've come to really appreciate just how accurate their " Simply Clever" boast is . From indicating vehicle and mobile phone battery status, switching music info whilst still seeing vehicle data, the so - useful headlight assist, the fantastic boot net system & curry hooks, the ice scraper in the fuel filler, to the never mentioned removable side pieces in the boot that fold and "stick" to the boot floor to secure any size package - all simply brilliant I reckon, and on a car that's a pleasure to drive too !

Incidentally, what is a "curry hook"? is that your term based on usage to ensure no spillage of you're take-away?

Exactly that (I have in in my Fabia) - for hanging carrier bags to prevent said foodstuffs falling over during driving.  Beats taking the wife, or driving whilst trying to keep hold of the bag when going round corners..

Ah brilliant - Didn't realise the diesel pumps were longer aswell as wider.

I rather like the feeling of a hot madras in my mid region.

I once had a Chinese fall from the car seat onto the floor after braking hard. Too good to waste though. That was long before car manufacturers got "clever"
