Who's taking their MkII to Castle Combe in Spring?

Featured Replies

Everyone has to start somewhere, Sy   :)

Completely agree, being slow isnt an issue provided you use your mirrors and let people pass, i work off the rule if smeone is up my ass though a corner, im obviously slowing them up and ill just let them by.   Its people who drive dangerously and try to race against you, its why i tend to pay for the more expensive trackdays to price out the young uns lol.  I was horrified at the driving standards at Knockhill, its the worst ive ever experienced.

  • I would but for the total cost of the summer one was just too high    2 new tyres to replace the terrible dunlops on the front that fell apart New front pads (due to nanny state traction control)

  • Mk2 line up. I did not hold onto pole for long

Guys,

Just a note for any of you who missed out on Spring Action Day tickets.

There looks to be a decent interest from people on here in booking some of the quieter later sessions in the day as well.

For those who are already booked this will be extra track time, but it also means that anyone who missed out could book into these extra sessions and get the Combe experience.

4pm for example is looking like it will have a big Briskie contingent.

Anyone interested check out the Spring Action Day thread.  I for one will be booking some more time.

You will I guess need to book on the Clubstand only with Jason @ £12.00

The 15 minute slots are at an early bird price of £30.00 if you are booked to attend with an owners club, the sessions at 4pm and after are £25.00 :o

Would be awesome to see some more MkII Fabia's there, vRS/Monte/Sport owners you know you want to!

WrightCNC - We ALL want to see you bring the Citigo rental down

I had call from dealer couple days ago to say my car is now in build, was given week 6 build date in November when the order was confirmed, so just maybe will have the vrs by then?! The renta on a trackday would be a laugh but slick gear changes are near on impossible because holds onto the rev's when you change and that does my nut in, but the fact that despite my best efforts to teach it to consume more fuel and air mix it has a distinct stubbornness to do anything worthwhile with it....

Generally if you don't drive like a twit or hold people up you are fine.

That way idiots have no reason to try and race you.

Yes, the Briskoda sessions are safer.

But the 4pm is late enough in the day to be a bit quieter and is looking like it'll have a decent number of Briskoda members on it.

So probably half the nutters of the other non-Briskoda sessions I've booked into. :)

If you are not confident enough, don't go on the non-Brisky sessions.

They are the best place for noobs to help you build up confidence.

Some people never progress beyong that, which is fine.

Well the above was...........erm............encouraging.

Y Fronts are now brimming with poo at the prospect of my two open sessions.  Cheers chaps.

Also highly doubt we'll see any more Mk II's at combe now either

Personally I wouldn't encourage new people that have not tracked before to go straight on an open session anyway.

The Brisky sessions are a great starting point.  You build confidence there first.

Once you've done those you'll be much happier. :)

(or do a novice day at a local track)

I'm going to try and squeeze in a warm up at Oulton Park beforehand.

Fair comment about encouraging new people to come to the opens.

I think perhaps I misread as I had gained the impression the last sessions are pretty dead so I was assuming it would mostly be the Brisky people bookng from the Spring action thread out at that time. My Bad.

To be honest you could well be right Sparkly.  Usually around 6-10 cars instead of 28.

But I don't want to tell people that and then find out the Scooby nutters have also chosen the 4pm for a final blast and we have noobs with us that was all. :giggle:

In that situation, just let everyone go past and then you have the track to yourself !  :D

Every time I've been (4 times now) people say all kinds of stuff, post vids of accidents and when I get there I just have a great time.

Why not come down to Brands Hatch with me before the Briskoda Castle Combe day in September?

I'll be there a few times over the summer.

You could always come down and passenger to get a feel for it.

I'll probably do a day in the new Yeti before Castle Combe to shake it down after the build.

But I'm bit worried that sitting in your car with you driving it might be too dangerous...You know what I'm talking about... :giggle:  :giggle: :giggle:

If your car is being built, you should get it in about 4 weeks ;)

Thought I would revive this thread as quite a few people I believe have signed up for the clubstand.

I will be driving down on Friday afternoon from a North Westerly direction.

Getting a little excited about my first Brisky track meet now.

Not long now! We are travelling up Friday afternoon and staying just outside Bristol on Friday night so it's not such an early start to get there on sat morning.

If I can't persuade SWMBO to let me take the Furby on track I might have to blag a passenger ride with you mate if that's possible?! :-)

Me can't wait for it...!!!!!! Will be driving from South East.

No problemo. Hopefully might get chance to take it out on an open session if these are available on the day? As long as it doesn't resemble a destruction-derby out there lol.

You will need to make the drivers briefing at 9am to get on track I think.

Ahh ok. Hopefully will be there by then but will see how we go lol!

Well, we can negotiate on the day, and based on how wacky the races are, but if you miss the driver briefing, we might be able to book my vRS out on an extra session on the day.

At the minute I will be doing 4 sessions, two with Brisky and two in the opens.
