Saying goodbye to my scooby, and moving to a fab vrs

My Passive Summing Mixer is just a 16 into 2 mixer with no controls, and as the name suggests its not powered. Its literally just to sum the multiple outs from my DAW into 2.

Because its passive, and essentially just a bunch of resistors ;) the output needs a gain stage after it. I went the route of not including a gain stage in the summing mixer such that I would be able to use any pre of my choice as the gain stage - I choose between transformer and transformerless designs, solid state or valve - whatever subtle (or not so subtle) flavour I want, or something ultra clean or neve like.

An example of a commercially available one is the RMS Folcrom:

My Mum still lives in Abu Dhabi, although they travel th emiddle east a lot doing photographic work - they'll likely be there a few more years then retire back here.

The SSL is the same design as per the 9000 buss comp.

My degree is in Computer Science, but Ive always been taking electronics apart and rebuilding them since I broke my first Spectrum ZX81 :)

I dont know your friend - what is his label called ?

Take care my friend

Ben

PS: If Im over I'll def look you up....

So you're usin' a mixer then. Summing mixer isn't sumthin ive heard of so i got a little confused. So from the DAW you sum each individual track into stereo using two channels on the mixer panned left and right.

Interesting :)

Thanks for the links
