Yep used to run a lightly modded '98 UK turbo and downgraded to a Fabia when I needed to sort my life and my finances out  Now back on the straight and narrow though and sold my Fabia a couple of months ago for my shiny new repmobile ;)

cost of ownership mate.

My gran had a stroke a few months back, and shes out of hospital in a couple of weeks and will need 4 carer visits a day, which the NHS arent going to contribute to :/

I do just under 30k miles a year, and you can imagine the petrol costs for that sort of mileage !

good to know, cant be a bad sign!

Welcome to Briskoda.

You will find many names on here that are also on scoobynet and the SIDC forums.

I 100% enjoyed my Impreza ownership but it was costing me a fortune to run and my other hobbies were suffering.

I then was told I would be transfering work places and the Scoob would have cost me over

I probably frequent 5 forums or so (mainly music production forums) regularly, as well as 3 or 4 more less frequently - well actually just as regularly, but I lurk much of the time, plus I run my own forum with a couple of thousand users at www.subvertcentral.com.

usually forget to maintain discipline and get some fresh air from time to time !

Lee, that's a nice old ride you had :)

Subvertbeats, I live in the U.A.E. but am from Cyprus. Been here 23 years.

I'm a sound engineer/producer and pro audio sales manager at an audio distributorship company i work for here in the UAE. Outside work hours when I can i record songs i write with a friend at his home studio, and i also mix local concerts when im demanded...

I also install systems for clubs here. Currently workin on installing a Dynacord Alpha system in a new and upcoming club...very amazing quality products from germany...as are their cars

If you're familiar with music production (take it by your title you are very familiar :D), I've used Neve and SSL desks to produce tracks, 02R Yamahas, and Mackies for studio applications...for live I've used soundcraft and Midas desks..softwares like Logic Platinum, Cubase, Sonar, Pro Tools LE.......completed my courses in England, came back here to work. Produced a couple of hit tracks locally....Im hopin ill get the chance to post up a link so u guys can listen to some good melodic metal and rock that i've produced...currently have written three more tracks to add to my 3 existing..will compile an EP and send it off so I may be heard...

Hence my title :D

Hey Mil

My Mum has lived in UAE for the last 28 years or so (I lived there as a baby)

I am also an engineer - not often I meet anyone on car forums interested in this sort of thing.

im currently kitting out a new studio at home, based around a Cubase SX3 DAW, but using a custom built passive summing mixer as I find achieving spacial depth / width and clarity to the mix much easier than when summing in the box.

I integrate all my outboard through the Passive summing mixer as I dont have Mytek / Lavry level converters at home.

I build lots of stuff - just finished a copy of an SSL buss comp :)

I engineer all sorts, but mainly produce hip hop. About to start a hip hop label - and I already run 3 drum and bass labels.

Havent worked in may big studios yet, other than Thames valley University, and Metropolis (although the latter I just use for mastering).

Bit of a geek when it comes to audio theory.

Thats me!, Great to meet you :)

YEAH!! FINALLY ANOTHER SOUND GUY!! :D

Passive Summing Mixer? That sounds like a patch bay to me, only with the ability to control i/p and o/p signals....am I correct? :D If not tell me more, I haven't come across it.

A copy of an SSL Buss comp?? Which particular model? wow! You sneak! You also sound like an intense electronics engineer:D How long you been in the field?

Your mom still lives here?

You know, you sound alot like someone I know in England...his name is Tarek, he's an engineer/producer too and he's just started a new drum & bass label. Do you know him? He's half Lebanese half English.

Myself I've done hip-hop and techno/trance, but my ears work especially well with rock and metal. Did a couple of tracks here that hit national radio..

Nice to meet you!
