Noticed something the other day but in all honesty didn't pay too much attention to it. However we were out this evening and it was there again and has concerned me as to what could be causing it and if its a sign of something giving up or needing work doing as still new to the car don't know all the weak points and major common issues as of yet.

Basically there is a whine coming from the front engine bay area (it seams) when going along but only really noticeable around 45/60 mph region. Most noticeable at 50 ish / loudest.

It's a constant reverberating / oscillating whine that once you go slower or speed up then goes.

The only things really done to the car since I bought it so far are brakes (not those causing it) and new rubber all round but don't know why would be at a specific speed it causes the noise?

I know its not a lot for people to go on buy I'm just wondering if thereby be any pointers as to where to start looking first.?

Are there any common issues that can show up via odd noises at those speeds?

Is it in all gears at 50mph? or related to a specific rpm or load?

No doesn't seem to make a difference if accelerating or decelerating in fairness, just noticeable at the mentioned speeds.

I have only noticed it in 4th and 5th at present as was travelling along the dual carriageway and didn't try putting it any lower than 4th at those speeds.

I'm hoping its not gearbox or diff as not what I need at present and in fairness the box still feels nice and tight and selects really nicely.

Don't know anyone local that knows boxes to take it too so if it is that I'm not sure what's the best bet.

Last car had an issue with the gearbox too, how unlucky can you be ffs. I know its not guaranteed or a definite but I really hope its not..
