I have Columbus version SW 5238 and number: 3T0035680K

I burned V10 west maps, but columbus wrote insert navigation DVD, i inserted East maps V10 and nothing happen? thanks

marekczekmap update goes on the background - radio/navi/music works as if nothing is happening. To see the progress you can press eject button once (wait for some 30 sec for the process to start after inserting DVD) and progress bar will show up.

One can also access map update progress bar using menu, but eject button is the most obvious way.

Oh, sorry, looks like I did not get the matter right. After burning West and inserting East - I am not sure if Columbust is smart enough to skip "overwrite" question and starts to use both maps - West from HDD and East from DVD.

Columbus will only use either West or East, it cannot have both loaded at the same time.

If you have a need for both, then you'll have to use one from DVD and one from the internal Hard drive.

Supposing both maps are present in Columbus (DVD+HDD, West+East) - is software capable of cross-east/west routing?

I.e. can it build route from, say, Madrid, Spain, to, say, Moscow, Russia? Unlike Germany, those countries are only present on one different map each.

No it can't.

It is either E or W map, not in combination.

I went to Lithuania earlier this year from the UK and had Western Europe on HDD and eastern Europe on DVD.  As I-s says, you can't plan one route for the whole journey, but it's not difficult to compromise.

I planned the route and stops up to the Polish/Lithuanian border using Western Europe maps (yes, Poland is included here!) and saved it into memory.  I then used the DVD to plan the final leg of the journey in Lithuania and saved this into memory.  Then all that's needed is to pop the DVD in as you cross the border when you leave the area covered by Western Europe maps and select the next destination from memory, being very careful not to overwrite the existing maps.

I bought the DVD on ebay and it is an old version, but it's fine for using only a couple of weeks a year on roads I know pretty well anyway.  The maps are very simple though and don't include most streets in towns.  Also, I was surprised that they don't include Belarus as I expected it to cover all eastern Europe.

Marekczek, just to say my Columbus works fine with V10 East on DVD and I have the same Columbus version as you with SW 5230. I currently have V9 West on the HDD and was planning to load V10 East on the HDD and buy a V10 West DVD for when I might need it. Seems like i'd better leave things as they are.

Hope you get your Columbus sorted.

marekczek, I have the same Columbus as you. Mine is HW-version H10, is yours as well?

Please let me know if you can resolve the loading issue of Maps v10.  Im not even sure how I can get that version, so info on where it could be obtained would help as well.  Thank you!

If v9 works on your Columbus then surely so will v10.

Maybe there's something wrong with the image or the way it was burnt to DVD (which would have to be a dual-layer due to the size of the maps image being about 5.3 GB).

I installed v10 on my 2 year old Columbus the other day and it works fine.

Installed V10 on my "new" 2010 today, loaded up without any problems.
