Bluetooth battery drain

Featured Replies

I recently replaced my Bluetooth module 5N0 035 730B with wasn't compatible with my iPhone for a 5K0 035 730 B which is. The system works but when left overnight my car battery was dead. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this? I don't want to have to reach under my seat to disconnect it every time I finish a journey.

I've never heard of the BT module causing battery drain.  My guess it is just coincidence and your battery is on its way out, which is even more likely if it is the original battery (your car being nearly four years as per your signature).

An easy way to confirm is put the old unit back in and see if it still happens, or alternatively get the battery tested.

It has been disconnected for a while now and the battery is fine. Found a topic on the vw navi forum were a guy had the same issue, no one answered him then he simply says problem solve without saying how. I have pm'd him but doubt he will reply as it was 2 years ago!

Hmm ok its a new one on me for sure. Good luck with getting a reply.

i know certain stereo/nav upgrades can flatten a battery if the can gateway isn't upgraded at the same time, i've not come across that issue with a phone module though yet.

You are correct, but the OP has a facelift Vrs so will have had the correct gateway

sounds like an issue with the box

I will plug it in a night before my wife doesn't need the car and see if it is dead the next morning. If so I will look for someone to help me scan it in the Lincoln area probably in the new year.

Thanks!

Well I should of just listened to all your advice. I left the module unplugged all over Christmas and everything was fine until yesterday when the car again failed to start. Had a long journey yesterday to collect a bargain roof box and left the module plugged in over night and the car started fine this morning. Ordered a Bosch S5 096 from carparts4less today for £78.99 with there current discount. Thanks for all your help!
