225 width fitment

Featured Replies

Just acquired some Audi TT wheels and tyres. Will they fit my mk1 vrs on stock suspension? The width is 225. Will they rub?

May rub a little on full lock.

Will tramline, will use more fuel though.

I ran 225's for a while, car feels nicer on 205's generally.

Thanks Dave. They were really cheap... And in decent condition.

I ran 225/45/17 tyres for ages. No problems whatsoever and the fuel consumption was no different. But just because they're 225 means nothing. You need to know the width, the size, the offset and also the other tyre stats before you could make the guess they will fit.

I ran them on the OE wheels for about 4 sets and came across the above problems to be honest I only noticed the fuel difference when I re-fitted the 205 and it shot up about 4 mpg on the M-way.

Tramlining was a problem which also disappeared with the 205's

Fitted the said wheels and the steering is heavier as you'd expect. The tyre noise is louder again as expected due to the wider rubber. No rubbing issues on full lock. Now just have to source some Skoda wheel centers for TT wheels. Any thoughts what I should search for? Thanks peoplePosted Image

Throw the centre caps away and just get small vrs centres

Similar to what my s3 wheels were like

Imo it looks better

Not a fan of the big bolt hole covers with the massive badges, looks better with no covers :)

Obviously my opinion :)
