More competition for the VRS TSi estate

Featured Replies

Just saw this http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/seat/leon/84996/seat-leon-st-cupra-new-spy-shots The Leon ST Cupra isn't far off now, and it packs a 268 horse punch, and, more importantly has the limited slip diff from the Golf GTi performance pack available as well. It does look a tempting bit of kit. I really would have liked that diff for my Octy VRS TSi hatch, when it comes.

I have to say it would make me think twice if I was looking at the moment.

It looks pretty understated in those pics, but the drivetrain sounds damn good.

Why car'nt we have 268 Horse's and a slip diff for our VRS's not fair, mind you the VRS is Not allowed to upstage the Golf GTI, which it certainly would.Still Love my VRS though.

298bhp with AWD soon, too. Sounds nice.

Nope, don't like it. Love my vrs though. Clever diff? Really? Are you needing it? Learning how to drive petrol again from 14 years of oil burners! Love the effortless power and how amazingly quiet it is.

Looks interesting, the wheels look like their hiding under the arches though?

Looks interesting.

Shame you can't get the vRS with the diff or the higher power output. I could live with a smaller boot (587 litres i think for the ST wagon so only a fraction smaller than a vRS).

If the production version has a stance like that mule then that would also be a positive vs. the skoda. I'm on my second mk2 vrs and on both i've had to go with aftetmarket suspension to get the car to sit right. Looking at the mk3 it looks like it would also need something similar (eibachs or coilovers).

268.... so that's the target when remapping is it?

no, that's the standard output. 300ps should be possible when remapping it to stage 1.

guessing you've not actually driven the Golf with the performance pack then? The Leon is officially now ahead of the VRS in my 'handy estate' list! I'd love to have the option of awd at 260bhp level rather than just 300bhp but that diff is very capable. :)

S3 sportback too if you can cope with smaller size

Too expensive and the boot's too small.

Not if your going PCP, remarkably close to petrol vrs!

But yes no use if you need such a large boot. Not many will need quite the expansive luggage area tho

I meant 268 is the target for remapping the Vrs?  I was lazily  ( as I've not looked into it) suggesting the Leon is perhaps the same engine better mapped.
