Featured Replies

hey all

just fitted a new maf genuine Bosch one and altho car feels better the asr light is on and wont go off. have tried clearing the code with torque app and it clears it but within 10 seconds or so the asr light is back on.

suggestions please

thanks all

What code is it?

0102

In that case it is either a problem at the MAF connector or a wiring problem.

that's the same code I was getting from a faulty maf sensor.

try unplugging it, then plug it back on and put the ignition on for a few seconds you should here a whine from the engine when the ignition is on that would be the car resting, with till it stop then start it and clear the codes.

if that don't work all other suggestions are that the new maf is faulty or the wiring is damaged somewhere.

You have plugged it in havent you lol?

I have mate only thing I can think of is the connector plug on the top of maf is not tightly on as u need some sort of special stud screw driver with a hole in the middle which u don't have in my toolkit so awaiting the part off eBay

You what ??

No tools needed for the plug itself. You need a five stud torx bit for the actual sensor to tighten it in the housing but nothing for the plug.

sure you got the right maf ??

yep as i checked the numbers against the old one and they matched so all correct and only got a 6 torx in my kit so as said awating for the right socket off ebay and meant sensor needs tightened up as its only so tight atm

You don't need to touch them screws !!! It's a wiring issue or a **** new maf !!!

they were tightened down on the old maf so i assumed they needed to be done on the new one

Did you recheck that the old MAF was the correct one for your engine?

  • Author

i suspect it was as it was on the car from when i got it and was working fine without fault for the years i have owned the car just now decided to tire out

I've undone them with long nose pliers before now so I'm sure you could nip them up with a pair

u mean done them up with long nose pliers basically when i got my new maf the screws on the top of the sensor were not done up at all so the sensor could move about alot so i assumed they needed screwing down like the old maf

Them screws should be tight from new was it a sealed box??

Yeah just do them up.

As clive says it should be tight out the box.

Did you buy a brand new one ?

the box was abit tatty but still good enough but the clear bag the maf came in was sealed and not one of those bags which you can open easy neither and david 8 it was from euro car parts due to tps/skoda being shut
