Engine transplants

Sometimes you have to take a bit of a chance...

I thought your 1.8T citygo was pushing it a bit. W16 citygo next?

I've always fancied transplanting the jaguar xj220 engine into a metro 6r4. The V6 in the 6r4 being the answer to competing with the turbo charged rivals with a n/a lump, where as the xj220 engine was the turbo charged development of the 6r4's lump.

Always thought that would create a monster, worthy of the group B starting point.

Having done a few transplants in my time I always think afterwards that the effort is never worth the gain.

same here, I've done lots of engine swaps, and I whole-heartedly agree with the oil burner above, it isn't worth it... I'd like my next project to be a maestro with a Volvo t5 engine shoved in there..

I've always wondered about dropping the 2ltr CR into a Mk1 Octavia or a 2ltr TFSI into my Mk2 Golf. I know the latter is an utter, utter nightmare having read a build project on an attempt. Like Bossfox says sometimes you've just got to go with it- the twin V8 lupo pales into insignificance when you consider

    I'm currently fitting an Alfa Romeo 2.0 Twin Cam engine into my battered old Estelle, known by many as The Shed. Should be fun, though it's always been a lot of fun with "normal" Skoda engines!

Bravo sir! Would a scoobie engine work in the Estelle?

you can fit anything in there really, if dave would donate one to me i'd shoe horn in an audi or bmw v8

I was in a MK 2 Escort yesterday, that had a Duratec Focus RS engine producing 360bhp through the rear wheels, to say it was lively would be a massive understatement, it was like a missile, the guys who own it were trying to fine tune a sophisticated launch control system that is fitted.

A laptop and a MK 2 Escort is a strange site to see.

Most VAG engines in VAG cars are an easy enough swap, there are thousands of 1.8T conversions and the VR6 has also been shoe horned into a few different models including a two engined Lupo, that didn't quite fit as you will see the hole in the bonnet!

Can't agree with that. Scoobie 2ltr into a bay window is worth double the time and effort.
