help needed - running issues

Featured Replies

I'm having some running issues with the vrs. boosts good up until around 4-4500 rpm but then is very hesistant to go any further. its ok in 1st, bit noticeable in sencond but then struggles more in higher gears when the load is greater. no engine light on and no stored codes. I'm thinking there may be a sensor on its way out but which one? lol!

1st thoughts could be MAF, will unplug and see if it behaves any differently tomorrow, but what would your thoughts be on MAP sensor? (is this also known as thrust sensor?)

any other thoughts and suggestions welcome

P.s been looking on vagcat.com and thrust sensor which I believe is Map sensor?

http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/sk/OCT/2002/252/49/4436761/

but list's 2 part numbers, 038906051 and 038906051B

anybody know which is correct one? 2002 1.8t vRS

thanks in advance

Just ring your local Skoda dealer give them your reg they will tell u if the recall has be done on your car if not they will book it in . When I did mine they told me it had already bin done as they where not genuine packs they where a different make altogether

Ok, so did you get yours replaced or not as they were not genuine?

Ive rang skoda this morning and they confirm the recall hasnt been done on my car but they need to check which coils are fitted 1st. So i know currently i have D coils fitted and the recall is to be fitted with L coils, do they automatically replace any coils which are not fitted with the latest L coils?

If you have "D" coils fitted already Skoda will not replace as the "D" are a recent type and not deemed problematic. The most recent I think are "R"

You have it the wrong way round. the "L" type and before are suspect and Skoda will replace these with "R" .

Best bet is refit the "L" and get Skoda to replace FOC or get someone to pass you there old "L" type

This is why Skoda want to check the car first to identify what you have in there and then tell you yes or no.
