Handbrake Function

Featured Replies

Stupidly simple question, but...

How does the handbrake function on the mk1 VRS, does it operate the calipers on the disk or is there handbrake shoes inside the rear disk? I would check but I'm without the car for a few days and the MOT is due the day after I get it back, need to order a few parts

handbrake applies a pressure to the brake pads via a screw action in the caliper so only the one set of pads that do handbrake and normal braking combined

Thanks for the fast response

Can you adjust the handbrake then?, mine won't hold on anything other than the flat but the disks are still clean so I assume the rears are working.

Could just be the pads are not that great.
