Central Locking Confusion

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Lately my car has been confusing the hell out of me when it comes to central locking, can some one please explain to me what my car should do when the unlock button has been clicked...

1 time:-

2 times:-

3 times:-

Cause it seems to take about 6-7 clicks for the drivers door to open? and sometimes if i click it twice it opens all doors except the drivers side!

Please help before I lose my mind!

Thanks in advance!

Carl

You can have it set by the dealer to open all doors on one click and lock them at 5mph as you drive away,

Otherwise it's 1 click for drivers door and 2 clicks for all.

Seems yours needs re-setting. Check the hand book or someone may be able to tell you the procedure on here but you can reset by inserting the key into the lock the so many turns one way and so many the other etc., I'm not sure of the exact combination.

ahhh! Thanks Horkin. can anyone elaborate on Horkin's post?

I had the dealer set the remote to one press lock and unlock, it's the worst set up I've had where you have to press twice to unlock all the doors.

The anti hijack setting mentioned above is OK if you're the only one ever in the car, that's a different setting again to the one press lock/unlock.

I sometimes give a lift to a work colleague so the doors locking when you pull away doesn't work as you would be forever pressing the central locking button on the centre console to unlock the doors to let passengers in or out.

Any idea on cost to have this done at a dealership?

ahhh! Thanks Horkin. can anyone elaborate on Horkin's post?

Cheers

If you have maxidot you can do it yourself.

It should be free at your dealership, I wasn't charged for it but there is some Briskoda members with VagCom who might do it for a small fee.

It can't be done via Maxidot on the Fabia, it can only be done via VCDS.

Called Faintree Skoda (Telford) this morning, they wanted to charge me 31.20 to add the speed locking and one click unlock setting! And members near/ in telford got VCDS to do this cheaper for me?

Hold out until you can get someone with Vagcom to do it.

It is literally five minutes work they are charging you for.
