You've every right to be peeved about it.

I'm very lucky to have a choice of vehicles but on the down side

it means I only get to drive the S3 very very rarely which is a shame as it is a lovely car.

But I only ever use it when I'm going somewhere where I can park it safely.

I drive the wifes Fiat 500 more often than my Audi :( and my slow noisy basic old

van even more still.

I had a bad experience where one sunday evening my mrs asked me to go and get her

a bottle of wine. The nearest place open was about 4 miles away along a NSL road

so I thought I'd have a squirt in the S3 for a change. I parked up in one of the bays

and went and got the wine, paid for it and got back in the car. Someone had parked a

manky old Land Rover next to my car leaving me barely enough room to get back into it.

There were still a couple of people sat in the Land rover in the back waiting for the driver

to come out of the shop. They were the 'swampy' type. You know the ones, dreadlocked

animal rights activist types. Anyway,  I thought no more of it and prepared to reverse out

of the bay. As my driver window passed the rear door of the Land Rover the 20 odd year old

female stuck her head out of the window and spat on my car, presumably because in her

mind the Audi represents capitalism or a highly polluting car or whatever.

I decided it wasn't worth the hassle and drove home and cleaned it off my car when I got there

but it's things like that which put me off of using it too often.

At the end of the day whatever badge is on it if it's your pride and

joy and you've worked hard to pay for it then it's going to grate when somebody isn't

respectful of your property.

I'd have made her lick it off the car, the act of spitting is discusting and anti-social and where I live would see you be fined if caught.

I think I would have waited for the driver and asked him if he was pround of his parking skills that made it impossible for you to get into your car, these people really annoy me, the same as those that give you a door job without any remorse whatsoever, they need to be removed from society IMHO.

Boils my p'ss hearing of things like this. Some people just have no respect for others property.

Im really terrible with this kind of thing, I dont clean my car a great deal but get really funny with any damage that cant be cleaned off.....certain I have quite bad OCD but thats another story!

A while ago went to the docs and the car park is terrible, small bays and no one parka properly.

I had my MK6 Golf GT company car at the time, did my best to keep it prestine and treated it like my own car, parked in the only bay available next to some old shower of ****e (may have been an old Vauxhall Agila or the Suzuki version) and remember thinking at the time "bet that old fecker opens their door on it". No fewer than 15 mins later go back to the car, said ****ebox is gone and a full length crease in my rear drivers side passenger door as a parting gift.

Was bloody annoyed but it was a company car so didnt lose too much sleep over it.

Sadly I think the answer is to buy an honest few year old car with its share of marks on it and just let the horrors that be out there continue to add to the canvas. Alas im in the habit of buying new cars now so with each car comes the new car fever, a bit pathetic really as its just a bit of metal at the end of the day...also going by my current history I wont tend to own it very long either but I guess when youve bought something half decent with hard earned money you want to keep it nice.

We used to have an old Izuzu Trooper for towing the horse trailer and general lugging about, took out the rear seats (which must have weighed about 50kgs!) and used it as a hay transporter too - now that was a great machine for car park wars.

Was costing too much to keep on the road so got rid of it a couple of years ago - I do have a 16 year old Yamaha R1 in mint original condition that only does 1000 miles per year so I do also have a gargage queen (sits under a fitted cover hooked up to a trickle charger in a heated garage built specifically for it!)  but I can't help being precious about the car too.

Urgh. This really annoys me.

I take pride in my car and bike. It might only be a 'fabia' to some but i like to try my best to keep it in the very best condition possible.

So i park out the way on the quiet bit of carpark earlier today like usual, but i still get a 15 year old banged up clio parking cm's away. Why? Just why?

I spend hours cleaning the car and bike, just wish i could make other people understand that itd make me much happier, if they just left a space between our cars, in the completely empty side of the carpark!

Agree with the above, although not a new car i have taken car of our 1.9TDI Elegance (Mk1) since new and always park away from others and normally with only one side able to be parked next too..... went to the bloody Trafford Centre the other week and park in a corner space, came back and some moron had '' parked '' his car on the paved area next to the drivers door, ie somewhere he should not even be.

Had to climb over the passenger side and move the car that way, i sent pics to the Trafford Centre and pointed out that he had no even bothered to pay attention to the double yellow lines ......'' oh we don't bother to enforce the parking restrictions '' !!! This is what the half-with from intu (the owners) said, let's just say they got a piece of my mind.

You can never prevent idiots from doing what you don't want them to do.... they are idiots after all.

I often usd to think of crrying a few large nails in the car for things like this. just stick 2 either side of a wheel, and whatever way they drive off, one of the nails s going to find its target. My particular pet hate was people who park in Mother and Baby spaces when they have no kids in the car - especially when my kids were babies - really tough with 2 toddlers 18 months apart.

Anyway, often thought about it, but never done it.....yet !!!

By the way, I do miss Becky.

Here are my parking tactics.

  • Always park near new cars, if no other spaces better
  • Always park a little far away from other cars and walk further
  • Always try to park near a kerb or barrier as this reduces chance of damage by 50%
  • Never park near a people carrier or car with child seats in it, they use your door as a door stop
  • Keep an eye on wind direction and park near cars facing into wind, the wind blows their door into your door if you don't
  • Never park exposed at the end of a row

I know I am a sad man, but I now have no faith in human nature.
