I'm looking at one for mine but the only proper fmic I see is the twintake forge jobbie, all the others seem to fit in the stock position between the rads.

Is this the case with all of the options?

I like a fmic to be seen so the only other option is to build my own.......anyone done their own?

Yes but they're bigger than the stock Octy one.

You could get the Airtec or Forge FMIC or even a Chinese one for around £195 but these are designed for the mk5 golf gti so some slight fitment mods maybe required.

Looked at them all but they all sit between the rads apart from the forge. I'm not paying that kind of money so I may consider making something up using a wellycooler.

Airtec and the Chinese one also fit at the front, they're a copy of the forge twintercooler.

Tests with the THS, APR and Wagner coolers show them to equal or better the twin Forge setup so do your homework and search the Golf forums.

If your on a budget I'd try the Chinese twintercooler copy. I got this but never fitted it and sold it on in the end, there's a thread with pics on here somewhere.

The stage 2 airtec does look good and is the cheaper of the ones I've looked at.

Audi S3 intercooler. Improves cooling efficiency by approximately 30% and is a genuine VAG part. Don't know why but that sealed the deal for me.

I bought an Airtec (Mk5 spec) from new and it was a very bad fit to the extent that I had to sell it on. The S3 intercooler does the job just fine.

I contacted auto specialist who offered me a discount on the stage 2 version but it's not front mounted it fits the same as the rest inbetween the rads.
