Slight misfire under light throttle info needed

Featured Replies

My mk1 vrs as started to misfire slightly under light throttle. Normal case is changed plugs now thinking coils. Any other info or advise would be greatdul thank you

Coilpacks are the most likeliy cause. Check with your local Skoda dealer to see if your car is covered by the VAG coilpack recall/TSB. Most mk1 VRS's are so you may get a new set FOC.

Not sure if this is relevant but mine had a very slight hesitation under light throttle and only once or twice, not like a constant mis-fire. It also used to accelerate slightly by itself on a balanced light throttle sometimes!

I did the plugs, filter, AFM and coils (FOC!), vag-com showed nothing and it finally turned out to be either a dodgy gasket on the throttle body or just muck in there.Stripped it down, cleaned with carb cleaner assembled with a new gasket and all symptoms disappeared!

Might be worth a shot for a £4 gasket? I think you need to be careful with the throttle position sensor though? There is a guide on here somewhere I think.

Nathan.
