Nearly new Yetis on Lincoln registration plates.

Featured Replies

Hi

I've been looking around at used Yetis tonight and notice that a fair number of <2 year old cars for sale through the dealer network are on FV/Y registration plates which indicates Lincoln registration. I've also noticed a fair number of nearly new Golfs and other VAG cars similarly registered. I'm assuming they must come from some form or hire or lease operation. Can anyone throw any light on what the background to these cars is likely to be?

Cheers - Andy

Not sure on that one. They're not Enterprise. Forest and Fens is a big patch, so they could be anyone of a number of finance companies, or a dealer chain doing their pre-reg's (that's why there's so many Northants reg's on 90's VAG cars).

Sound like ex rental to me, many get PDI 'd When they come off the docks.....

Until recently they are likely to be from Hortons, as they came under the Lincoln DVLA FR-FY series. However the new Grimsby outfit will also use this series.

Rainworth would normally use FA to FP.

Oh forgot one caveat; all the local DVLA offices are now closed and it's all administrated from Swansea, so you might end up with a Swansea CP-CV plate on a London registered car for example

Internet broker vehicles are commonly sourced from this area. These can be private individual sales as well as fleet purchases.

A lot but not all of these would be ex-Fleet cars, sourced from Skoda UK. Paragon is the likely name in the logbook but worth checking as some of these FV etc plates could well be dealership ex demos, pre reg's depending on their area.

Paragon, correct, not for long though, all being made redundant very soon......

Hi all.

Thank you very much for all your replies and apologies for not coming back before now.

Yep, suspected they must be coming from a pretty big operation given the number of nearly new "F*" registrations about nationally (as well as on many Golfs). Also seeing a lot of "K*" Northampton registrations about as well. Must be a similar thing. I'll ask to see the paperwork before dealing if I'm concerned.

Thanks again - Andy

Over to the 'K' plates; again, a lot of these could be Skoda UK cars, along with 'D' plates - Not all of these will be SUK, but worth checking the logbook before hand.

Thanks. You say 'D' plates, that's Cheshire and local(ish) to me. I'd assumed these were local privately owned cars (looking at Mitchell's). Do you know whereabouts in Cheshire these cars come from?

As an aside, I've looked everywhere to get hold of a Yeti on day rental and the only one I could find was in Brownhills. Does anyone know of anywhere in the North West/North Wales I could get a Yeti on rental for a day or two?

Thanks again - Andy

You will probably find a mix of privately owned and Skoda cars on D and K plates. Our Area Manager popped down just before Xmas and his Octavia was a DE (I think) plate, could have been a DA though.

I remember a thread on this a year or so ago, and if memory serves me right Mannyo (moderator) had a Superb (?) that was either D or K plated but was either privately owned or ex demo, not SUK.

If he sees this thread it might help.

You will probably find ...........

Thank you - Andy :)

My old man worked for Bentley in Crewe and their company car was any car in the VW group, changed every six months. A massive operation and have been on a few occasions with him to pick up new cars. Audi's VW's. Skoda's and Seat's the lot all going through as company cars. Employees have them for 6 months, can do no more than 9000 miles in them and then they go to the dealer network. I think VAG get some kind of VAT benefit by doing this and with 6000 employees thats a lot of cars they get through. My dad has had 14!

Yep, thanks for that. Seem to be plenty of VAG cars on DL-Y Shrewsbury registrations. Also seeing many on Manchester registrations as well. Seems like nearly all <3 year old used VAG cars are ex-fleet. Makes sense I suppose, not many private owners are going to change under 3 years.

Cheers - Andy

Not sure you have the K plate thing right.

I've had 2 motorbikes and three Skodas, all new and each one has had a K? Reg, and the majority of cars in this area also have K plates.

Recently, from the 63 plates, there have been an influx of L? registered, which I presume is London.
