My Delivery Date Moved Forward Yet Again!

Featured Replies

Have just had an unprompted email off the dealer to say that my car is now expected end of January, he will contact me shortly with an exact date. Im guessing this means it has now probably been shipped from the factory.

I ordered on 17 November so if it comes 31 Jan then this will be an incredible 6 weeks from order to delivery. I consider myself very lucky, and have sympathy for those waiting far longer, the way Skoda manage the delivery system really doesn't seem fair. I guess I am in part so fast as I ordered a very common colour/wheel/model combination and very few optional extras.

Order was

VRS TDI Hatch

Race Blue

Anthracite Alloys

Std Cruise

Colour Maxi Dot

Heated Nozzles (not winter pack)

Maybe Skoda production management banged a few heads together over the Christmas period and come up with some new ideas.  I'm more of the opinion that the Skoda's Executive Board kicked Skoda production management's arses and thats prompted a bit of a push, lets just hope the supply chain on some of the more problematic parts/options have had the same treatment otherwise, there will be some very big differences in lead times.

As SUK is loaning car out after 16 weeks waiting  there has to be cost somewhere down the line, maybe that is now being passed on to the delaying Department budgets.

Who knows whats happened but, lets just hope its a good sign of things to come.

Enjoy your new car Kid.

Regards

T

No you're right it's 9-10 I counted to end of Dec!

I still say 9 weeks is decent especially with the times being quoted (i was quoted March when ordering)

Have exchanged emails with dealer further he confirms it is built and is in transit to the UK.

All this moving forward. Have some dealers decided to give very long lead times to cover themselves, and to make it look good when they tell you it has (supposedly) moved forward.

Because ordering 20th Sept, and to not get built until Wk 15/ 2014 seems a very very long time. Thats about 6 months until it gets built. Let alone actually arrives here.

With the bad weather and backlog at port of Emden cars are delay being shipped over... :wall:

Delays in shipping happen. Annoying, but at least once its left the factory, you know its on its way.

It does seem like some dealers are giving very late build weeks on purpose though. That way, if there are delays in the build week, it doesnt matter, as it'll still be built before the dealer claimed it would. Thus less complaints from customers (after they have got over the initial shock of being told they have to wait 6 months for their car to even get built).

I ordered 17 Nov and was quoted start of March (about 16 weeks), which I dont think is unreasonable for a new car. If I get it end of Jan it'll be 9 weeks which is very good.

Hi. What vehicle have you ordered and from what dealer ?

I wish, been waiting 23 weeks so far!

Ordered lease car at the end of July, apparently some comms issues between lease company and dealer lead to car spec not being confirmed to dealer and so they  didn't actually place the factory order but didn't bother to tell lease company who didn't ask why no confirmed build date and why a delay!

Consequently I still don't have car, and guess who the lease company is, Volkswagen Group Leasing.

Doesn't give a good impression of the communication abilities of the VAG empire.
