  1. Had the same problem, was driving me crazy. The rear seat was always creaking on uneven surfaces. Went to the dealer to complain, they oiled the rear seat release mechanisms and no problems since.
  2. I also switched from the old 1.4 TSI to the new 1.5 TSI, both with manual. I agree that the 103kw 1.4 TSI was a really good all-round engine. I've noticed that with the 1.5TSI I often downshift from 6th to 4th when overtaking at highway speeds. Don't remember doing that with the 1.4. One thing I'd like to add after driving the 1.5 for over 25 th km is that I'm amazed at how much better the fuel economy is. Was thinking it'd be about the same, but it's significantly better than the 1.4. Real happy with that.
  3. Yep, my 1.5 TSI is somewhere around 25 thousand km, hasn't seen an oil change yet (service interval is 30 th km) but I've added oil a couple of times. Don't remeber when the first time was but definitely before 10 thousand.
  4. Ordered the new Octavia on the first week of May (I'm currently in Estonia). After the order was accepted, I was quoted August for delivery, late July if lucky. Out of the blue, the dealer emailed me yesterday saying that the car has arrived and should be ready for handover next week. Seems like the czech factory doesn't have a terrible backlog of orders at all.
  5. Just came back from a 6000km roadtrip that took my Octavia through 10 countries in Europe (from the Baltics to the Balkans and back). As is natural with a newly bought car, I kept noticing the same model here and there and everywhere. I quickly saw all of the 12 or so brochure colours or "common" colours on the road. Out of which, I think rally green is the only one that I only saw once. Also saw some custom order colours. Met an orange one and some funky looking shades of green and blue (one of which I had seen earlier at a dealer's showroom -- somebody ordered a custom color and then cancelled and the dealer was unsuccessfully trying to sell the car at the premium price that comes with ordering a custom color from the factory ). As well as some taped-over colours, mainly yellows but also one extremely matte black, almost like chalkboard paint but not quite. But what I really meant to say as a personal observation is that white is by far the most common color for the Octy in central Europe. By an absolute landslide. It seemed that most people who have the new Octavia have gone for white. The sheer amount of white Octavias was somewhat surprising at first but then again, they do look really good.
  6. I encountered this as well. On my 1.4 it has only occurred on one side, from the driver's side A-pillar area. And also only at 90+ km/h, it's definitely very annoying. That being said, it's been infrequent and been happening less and less often. Meaning most highway runs are not noisy. I haven't been to the dealer's after the handover, might mention it when I go for 1st service.
  7. That applies to Bolero and navi units. Swing has all of the workings and media slots in the centre console unit.
  8. 1.4 TSI, done about 2200 miles so far, no additional oil demanded. None of the problems you mentioned (though didn't want leather seats), in fact no problems at all except there's occasionally some strange wind noise at highway speeds that I can't quite pin down. The petrol engine is remarkably good. (I had to take a company Hyundai i30 for a 400-mile trip yesterday. You can't imagine how glad I was to be back in the Skoda today. )
  9. Bought a Sandisk 64GB microSD a few weeks ago, have been using it in the Octavia and it's great. The manual does say something about not recommending using smaller SD cards with adapters. In reality a good adapter holds the card very tightly and I don't believe there'll be any problems. I prefer microSD as I can use it in other devices if necessary. And more easily connect to my computer.
  10. I'll correct myself -- not the driver's door, but any front door needs to be opened. So again: the way my car seems to work is that after it has come to a standstill and the engine is running, the boot door can not be opened from the outside until a front door has been opened first. For some reason, people exiting from the back seat can not open the boot by themselves. And this is with automatic locking off.
  11. I discovered recently on two occasions that when the car has been driven and has stopped, you cannot open the boot door from the outside unless the driver's door has been opened first. I wasn't aware of this as none of my previous cars have worked like that and it isn't mentioned anywhere in the manual. So for example, if you're dropping someone off, he gets out and wants to grab something from the back, the boot won't open unless you open the front door first. Or another time, I wanted to load something to the boot, had my SO pull out from the parking spot and was unable to open the boot after that. I can understand the rationale - e.g. stops people from nicking stuff from the boot while you're stopped at a traffic light (like that ever happens) - just that it caught me by surprise. (This is not dependant on the safety locking or automatic locking features.)
  12. Not 100% on topic, but I'd heartily recommend the faux leather material for the backside of the front seats as a factory option. (Is it available from SUK?) Looks smart, very easy to clean, very useful if you have kids in the back.
  13. Hmmm, well OK. I agree that flashing your brake lights in order to disengage CC (and then coast onward) is bad style. I found immediately, even on my first test drive, that the springy switch is always at my fingertips and I use it almost every time. And then you can drop down gears for more engine brake. Personally, I would be very unhappy if the clutch dropped cruise control. I find the Octy's system and button layout absolutely spot on.
  14. Care to elaborate, why don't you like that? I can't come up with any downsides of gear changes not disengaging cc.
