Stage 1 re-map. Induction kit or not?

Featured Replies

Folks. Looking for your thoughts.

2011 Octy Vrs TFSI stage 1 remap getting done in two weeks time. Looking forward to it, but should I fit an induction kit along with the remap, or will it make no difference. Looking for bhp gains mainly but would also like to try and amplify the Turbo/Wastegate chirp heard on gear changes :)

Family car so not interested in gaining any "induction roar".

Cheers.

Depends on the kit you get, a well placed open cone with a good cold air feed will see you free up a few ponies and give you a nice waste gate chatter back through the kit as well. Instead of buying a full induction kit, might be worth looking at the ideal placement of the open cone, and just run a custom made piece of silicon hose from the intake to the cone, can get them custom made to sizes and stuff for pretty cheeps, couple of jubilee clips to hold in place and you'll be away.

Sounds good. I was planning on building a custom kit as a ready made kit is on the costly side. I had planned on putting a universal cone k&n or Pipercross etc behind the headlight where the current air box is. Then just make up the piping using silicone hose and a cold air feed running from behind the grill.

Sounds like a plan to me :)

Just need to make sure the silicone piece you get made for the intake has the little take off, I haven't checked the routing on this yet but I think it a fair assumption it is linked to either a head or crank case breather of some description. Although checking the bay of e at the moment, there was one of the forge intakes up for £225 plus delivery.

Edited to add: Is your battery in the boot or under bonnet?

Under the bonnet fella. £225 still a bit pricy for me :(

Hmmm okay. Open cone and cold air feeds then chap!
