Hi,i'm thinking of changing coolent/flushing system on my felicia but are finding it hard to get the recomended antifreeze (what original skoda handbook says). Could i just use the new type antifreeze  G12++/ G13? Also if i use this would the coolent still need changing every 3 years, or would it become like a modern day "sealed for life system" and not need changing in future.

Thanks, Done a bit of research the problem was I'd been looking for antifreeze with spec TL-VW 774B (G11) which is be an older specification that why i couldn't find any (thats what you get when looking at a handvbook that was printed 18 years ago)

It seems that you right G12 (TL-VW 774D) would be fine and it lasts for up to 5 years insted of the 3 years for the older type antfreeze.

But @ about 50p diffrence per litre a might as well go all out and get the most recent G13 TL-VW 774J, I don't think it will damage my engine at all.

yes, but it's not a good idea to mix types, make sure you purge the entire cooling system if you are going to use the new-fangled g13, i did read somewhere that certain types of OAT coolant should only be used in alloy engine blocks, it's worth checking with the supplying dealer

Thanks, will ask about coolent because the 1.3 does have cast iron liners. If not i'll use The G12 type no point in ruining the system for sake of £2. Going to do a full flush anyway make sure all the system is a as clean a posiable.

Had no issues just firing in Euro Car Parts own brand OAT coolant when I changed the radiator in my 1.9D, I doubt it'd make a great deal of difference which grade you use providing you don't mix them.
