Throttle Body electrical connections TDi

Featured Replies

Could someone be kind enough to check under their bonnet  and provide me with the wiring /colour codes for the above for my 2005 Octavia Mk2 2.0 TDI (BKD engine). I've had a spot of bother with the Throttle body sticking shut, the fuse DIDN'T blow and the connector caught fire (yes under the bonnet). Luckily I spotted it quickly and put it out but it melted the connector. I've got a new Throttle body and connector shell but unfortunately do not know which colour wires connects to which of the four terminals (numbered 1-4). I asked the dealer (Parkview Reading Skoda) where I bought the connector from and they said they couldn't tell me!.

If anyone can recommend the best place to get new terminals ( I think they are 1.5mm JPT Junior power time terminals) that would be helpful also. Skoda Reading said they could supply these but only in quantities of 10x for over £30 (yes for 10 pins).

I don't know where the throttle body is - otherwise I would check for you. If you can enlighten me as to where it is, I'll check tomorrow in the light.

But I do have some terminals in various sizes sat in the garage. I'm sure I'd have four in the right size.

If you PM me your details, I can send them over to you.

I thought only petrols have throttle bodies?  I wonder if the OP is referring to the inlet manifold / EGR setup?

I was trying to be a bit more subtle than that...

Say it like it is I say!  :P   Then we might all know what is being referred to and be able to help out on a more informed basis... :D

Sorrry, I just rechecked the above link and you need to put in car reg VX05XRL to see the part.

Actually I checked an error report for this and it refers to it as the "Inlet Manifold Flap" so parhaps europarts reference as a "Throttle body" is not strictly accurate.

I'll have a look when there's light, but I don't guarantee I'll find the part though.

inlet manifold flap - I call this the anti shudder valve,  It stops the car cleanly when you turn off the ignition, by cutting off the air supply with that flap.  Definitely not a throttle body. :)
