Mk II vRS Suspension Advice

Featured Replies

I got a new vRS on order to replace the wife's 1.2 TSI Elegance and am hoping to take delivery early March.

When I bought the Elegance i spec'd it with sports suspension and have been quite happy with it to be honest. As mentioned the vRS will be the wife's daily driver (school runs and local going and froing and the like) as i have a company barge for the daily commute but will use the Fabia at the weekends.

My question is i've been spoilt in recent years with good chassis and suspension with a couple of Lotus's and am wondering whether i should go for the Skoda Eibach springs from the outset (i.e. get the dealer to fit them before i take delivery) or am i going to be happy with the standard set up.

My only reluctance to going for the Eibach's is the potential poor ride quality for when the wife is doing her everyday driving, or am i worrying for nothing?

Sorry for the rambling question - any thoughts greatly appreciated.

just add a rear anti roll bar. leave the springs and dampers, they will still do their job while the ARB will keep the body flat round corners.

Eibach springs are covered by skoda warrenty (double check) but info on here states it should be fine and adding the springs doesnt change the harshness of the ride also info on here.

The springs can be brought from germany on ebay for £60 less then british seller on ebay and no import tax etc

I have my car lowered on the harder and lower H&R Springs, I have now covered approx 10k in my car since I have had it about 50/50 stock and on lowering springs.

Generally the car's damping is rubbish, I found lowering made the ride firmer but less crashy and for me this has been preferable as bad potholes used to make me think I had broken something on the car every time I hit one.

The springs improve the handling no end and although on it's own you will gain flatter cornering with a RARB alone the springs pair amazing in combination with a RARB and contribute to a sharper handling car. I had my springs on first and ran them on their own for ten days and the difference was night and day from stock setup. So in order to retain warranty and improve handling, the Eibach kit is a must.

I would also recommend having the steering assist checked via VCDS and make sure it is on GtI setting as this adds weight and steering response also. Beyond that 215mm tyres would also help.

Do you know of anyone that's tried a damper package in conjunction with either the H&R or eibach springs and RARB?

I got the eibachs from new, covered in the 3 year warrenty , they make it look much better, and handle better (althought the RARB is a better handling mod!) the ride isn't compromised that much, mine is still more comfy than swmbo's citigo!

NOTE: tell the wife she cannot be going up kerbs on the school run! the front would be too low (speed bumps are not a problem though)

Have a search for the Bilstein B12 kit, seems to be regarded as one of the best, with a price to match of course.

Cheers all - sounds like the Eibech's are the way to go!
