Air intake etc for hybrid/GTB setups

Featured Replies

What are people using on their MDX/GTB turbo setups?

I know its general consensus if on a stage 1 remap leave the air intake system as it is, as it'll do **** all for power but with hybrids turbos etc are we getting towards the limit where power can be yielded moving away from the stock setup or  change to stock airbox and a pipercross filter etc, PD160 intake pipe, or full air feed and large cone setup etc?

Has anyone experimented on a dyno or done MAF sensor readings on various setups?

Cheers

I was a little sad and based on the measurement of the MAF outlet, and the turbo intake, I used a selection of ally pipes, silicone couplers/reducers/reducing bends, to achieve what I wanted.  I then wrapped it in reflective tape as was sitting close to my manifold.

I ended up with this

I'm running the Jabba cone in a box, fits in the OEM air box, along with a PD160 air intake. I will be buying a new Jabba cone in a box for when my new turbo gets fitted. Hopefully this is sufficient.

Bmc cda

God knows if it does anything

Big old dirty cone filter and a JP160 custom intake (bigger+cheaper than PD160)

This seems familier!

I've got some heat reflective tape for my pipework, just need to get it on..

That ITG type is rated looks like it either a 400 or 500 rated BHP one.

Running a jabba cone in a box, otherwise air filter trys to get sucked up! Still need a pd160 intake but hate the price of them!

Just realised we are talking air filters, not air intakes :D  I am using a BMC CDA too, tucked in behind my methanol rig, and the pipe wrapped around it to get fresh air from close to the oem spot.

When you do the custom intake pipe did you leave the pd130 trumpet part on and fix the bigger pipe to that or did you remove all of the standard air feed and just use the new pipe? I'm going to sell my pd160 and go cone filter with this set up just to free up abit of cash as I see pound notes when I look at it and not an increase in power lol

No mate I bought a trumpet as well as the intake pipe, message Joe_vrs_tdi or check his thread on it sure he's posted the links up to both parts

Cheers will do

What else is there? Everyone knows that the perfect air filter is like the da vinci code of tuning, solve it and 'teh UNLIMITED powah' mod is unlocked.

It's like the lost ark of the covenant, the holy grail, the spear of destiny and the philosophers stone all rolled into one tantalising mystery!
