ESP/ASR/TCS light stays on after exactly 10 mins - Scanned

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Done a search everywhere and it comes up with faulty sensor as the suggestion however...

This is the sequence of events:

1- Driving normally, TCS light comes on while driving

2- Testing out things, its exactly 10 mins into driving everytime

3- TCS and ABS works fine in that first 10 mins, maybe the ABS is a bit over sensitive but the tracking needs doing so could be that.

4- Decided to get a VAGCOM scan and it came up with the below diagnosis:

I'm thinking it could be the ABS unit? Rather than just a sensor as it couldn't seem to communicate with the ABS unit.

Any brights ideas chaps and chappess'

Battery isn't getting charged.

The alternator load wire is broken. This is the fault that tells you that:

01117 - Generator Terminal DF Load Signal

Seach on here for it and there are loads of posts. Very common.

Must be the time of year for this. Happened to me recently, blue "load" wire had snapped.

Would that cause the ABS problem?

did you have the same problem as me? Also where is the wire located? Off the alternator?

Would that cause the ABS problem?

It could do yes. If the ABS controller isn't getting the right voltage then it can cause it along with all the other controllers in the car to go funny.

It's a good place to start at least as it's an easy fix and very cheap.

Phil

No abs light but it can cause it.

When you turn the key for electrics only, do you get the battery illumination bulb on the dash? Should be red.

If not the wire is snapped.

Thanks for the replies guys! I have checked that Bowen, I'm not getting a battery light on switch on so will check there over the weekend to see what condition the blue wrote is in. Is it fairly obvious when you get underneath it which wire it is?

Alternator load wire it was!!! Thanks guys :) bit fiddly but extended and done, in fact I bypassed the plug completed as it was broken so close to the plug. The cupra.net guide was handy but it was fairly obvious once underneath the car on the passenger side!
