Some bluetooth questions...

Featured Replies

2009 Octavia Combi L&K

I have Columbus and Bluetooth installed.

1) I guess the Bluetooth I have is just for phone since I'm not able to stream music... what is it needed to do that?

2) Is it possible to deactivate in some way the car "calling to my phone" when I use voice functions in the phone? I have iPhone 4S and use a lot SIRI when driving to write sms without touching the phone. Is it possible to deactivate the use of car bluetooth for this action? Don't know if the setting is on the car or the phone...

Thanks,

Sino

It depends on the bluetooth module. Do you know which one you have?

No, how do I know?

Its probably under one of the front seats under a cover. There should be a label on it with a code containing the numbers 035 730. Post the whole code.

Thanks

I am unable to identify the module since I have electronic seats and it's difficult to go down there...

Can I discover the module number via VCDS?

Thanks

Yes module 77.

Ok here we are:

1Z0 035 729 A

No Adaptations/Coding regardin music in VCDS, in the Car (w. Columbus) I have the BT icon "greyed out" under the MEDIA menu.

I don't think that module does streaming unfortunately. But it is worth a few quid if you check out eBay, so you could sell and buy one which does.

An iPhone only connects in hands free protocol so if you went that route, you would need a module which supports that. Whether it can do what you want with SIRI, I'm not sure about sorry but in hands free protocol, presumably that simply needs a way to break the connection which I think newer modules can do.

The 1Z0 035 729 B in my 2008 pre FL does not support streaming, either. Is there a module from Skoda (or Volkswagen for that sake) that will support streaming? I just tried the 3C8 035 730 C but my iPhone wouldn't see it. Also, that module has the purple connector that expects the antenna cable, which mine does not have. There also is an error message that the left voice channel doesn't work but I knew that in advance. Grateful for nay hints you can give me.

That 3c8 module wont work in a pre FL as it needs maxidot for pairing and the older maxidot cant see these modules without a special box (like this http://www.carsystems.pl/fis-link-can-box-converter-for-red-dot-matrix-fis-and-new-bt-modules,id687.html).

5k0 035 730 d or above or 7p6 035 730 j or above will work with an iPhone, including streaming, in hands free protocol mode and pair without maxidot but you need a suitable HU to access the phone book etc. as the maxidot wont see it. By suitable HU, I mean a Bolero or Columbus, but not sure about others.

Otherwise the older unit you have at least shows in maxidot and works in hands free mode, so should support an iPhone.
