I feel like a two timing cheat!

Featured Replies

Forgive me mk1 Skoda owners for I have REALLY sinned and this is my confession!

I took a mk2 Octavia vrs TDI out for a test drive today at my local Skoda dealer....... And I really liked it. Gearbox, steering, suspension, interior, all just that little bit better than mine. That's understandable I'm not cribbing mine, its 13 years old now with nearly 120k on its clocks. The diesel pulls really well it certainly felt quick enough. Quieter inside too. It still sounded like a tractor at traffic lights but I have to say couldn't really tell up at speed. They wouldn't move much on the price so its stillunder consideration. I'm just finding it so hard to part with my mk1 its been THE best car I've ever owned.

If its in a different postcode its not cheating ;)

Thanks. I feel a little bit better! It was in the same city though. I drove off with my mk1 sitting looking at me though. No, I feel awful!

I remember test driving my VRS and when i arrived back the brownbarge was just sat there.

On a different note, im growing fonder of the mk2 and my next car with most likely be a mk2 VRS

I'm seriously tempted. I wanted to really dislike it but they are very nice. The interiors are a lot nicer. Even the stereo sounded decent compared to mine. Mp3 connection as well plus on the test drive it was doing 55mpg! I normally see a 2 in front of a 5!

I know that feeling. Im not a massive diesel fan tbh but id consider a mk2 tbh

But i do prefer petrol

I was holding out for the mk3.  I don't really like the bonnet/fat wing combo on the mk2.

I don't like the shape at all. I much prefer the mk1tbh. But, I wouldn't have anything else other than a Skoda, the fabia is too small and running costs are an issue now. I prefer petrol as well. Even though diesels are far better than they used to be, they still don't sound very nice IMHO. But, at motorway speeds you couldn't tell.

If I stick with Skoda once mine dies, I would rather have the MK3, not that keen on the MK2 face lift looks ok-ish though, if we ever get a Rapid VRS may consider one of them.

I'm probably gonna cop it here but I prefer my mk2 vrs tdi to my old mk1 . Its alot more refined .It feels better put together then the mk1. interior is a much better place to be in . The suspension is a bit less harsh as well . But I miss the power of my mk1 . To be honest if I could have afforded it I would have kept the mk1 as a weekend car . They are both good cars .

Tbh, I would have struggled with this comment this morning. But after a test drive I know what you mean. I've had this image of diesels for so long. Never was a fan( something that burns oil should not work! ). But it was a nice drive. Seemed fairly powerful I know its all low down torque but it would keep me happy I think!
