Non illuminated instrument needles?

Featured Replies

Hi

As always turning to the knowledgeable and friendly folk on the forum!

Purchased my new (to me) Octy II 1.8TSi Elegance yesterday and whilst driving home from the garage noticed that only one of the four instrument needles was illuminated when the lights were on. Car is still under warranty (runs out in March) but I'm wondering if anybody knows how easy a fix this might be?

Spoke to the garage and they seem to think it's either an easy solve or something which would take the whole day. Unfortunately it's a Ford Arnold Clark garage so i don't have a huge amount of confidence in them and I'll be servicing the car at Henry's in Glasgow in the future who have always done a great job :-) Just hope that the instrument cluster won;t need removing??

Really enjoying the benefits of the 1.8TSi engine over my older 2.0Fsi - just need to find a buyer for that one now and then I might the engine remapped to 200bhp!

Thanks for anyone's help!

can't you take it to skoda Arnold Clark? I grudge taking my car there but in fairness not had any issues yet

When the lights are on does the rest of the dash illumination work correctly (clocks, switches etc)?

Hi Guys,

xpower - as far as I can see all the other dash lights work - it's only the three needles which are not illumiated

iain - maybe a possiblity but I think the Ford garage will want to see it first. They are talking about a quick visit on thursday and then booking it in next week if it can't be easily solved. Bought the car at Linwood so the garages are pretty close..

thanks for your help!

don't waste time with this

Take the car back to the garage, I bet it will be a new dash pod

the fact that one is lit suggests that something is wrong in the cluster

(I'm guessing something is wrong in the eeprom file)

It's Linwood Arnold Clark I got mines from, like I said no Arnold Clark is great but my cars been in a few times for warranty work and had no issues. If I was paying then there's no way I'd go there though.
