Spare wheel for Octavia Vrs

Featured Replies

I am after a full 'full size' spare for my 2011 Octavia Vrs. Another Neptune alloy looks like costing me at least £260...

I can find an Audi 18" wheel from an S line... Everything matches 5x112, 7.5J but the offset is 54 and not 51...

Will that 3mm cause me problems? Clearly I would get the original tyre fixed and back on ASAP but don't want to be limited to 50mph.

Any advice gratefully received!

Get this set of 4 used with tyres off ebay, then I am sure you could find buyers on here for the rest of them for same purpose covering all your costs (inc cost of becoming a Freedom member in order to sell them) and you might even end off a few quid up!

I'd take a look at the classifieds here - there's a single refurbed Neptune with tyre for a good price

Thanks both.

I am watching the set on EBay now which could be an option... Don't really want the hassle of 4 though!

I have messaged the seller of the one wheel which would be ideal....

What's wrong with a 205 55 16 spare? This is a full size spare contrary to what Skoda say. It has the same rolling radius as the 18. Don't see any reason to be limited to 50mph on it. The only difference is a taller sidewall. I've had one on for a week once and it felt no different and certainly didn't stick to 50.

The reason is that it says stick to 50mph on it. I'm not that technically minded to know why but assumed there must be a reason ... a difference in grip as it is narrower and taller maybe?

Whatever the reason I'd prefer to be confident in it and just get an identical wheel and tyre. Plus the spare with a tyre will cost me £150!

I agree, and we bought a spare Neptune with the correct tyre for the same reason.  I'm pretty sure that the Police and insurers would have a thing or two say if you were unfortunate enough to have an accident if it could be proved you were doing over 50mph with a wheel fitted that had a clear and obvious warning for you not to exceed that speed...

EU and additionally UK law 80kph/50mph limit if differing sizes on same axle and only for temp use as in spare to get you to safety etc. Covered many times on here.

Can someone please quote me the part number for just the steel rim for a VRS, as opposed to the part number for the rim with tyre.

Thanks.

From the useful parts thread in tech section of Octavia II on here the very first one handily is this.

How did I miss that? Thanks

That should be the steel standard spare 205/55/16 tyre goes on it.

Actually, my dealer said the VRS steel spare has a different part number to a non VRS. Presumably due to caliper clearances?
