Best replacement for Mk1 Octy 1.9 TDI 110 to run to high miles?

Featured Replies

Just unlucky there I think Phil - seems most other pre-FL DSG people ticked Maxidot on their orders then.....

Yeah take 3 or so readings and average them out. They don't necessarily need to be full to empty figures, more a mixed range of driving so it displays the most accurate 'real world' figure really. As long as you know how much fuel it took to return to 'clicked' full and how many miles of driving that resulted in

Mine was 14% optimistic, to give you an idea :)

How do you actually find the fuel economy compares, in the real world, on a similar journey, between the 105 and the 140?

I know the 140 has a 6 speed box and the 105 only a 5, but have often wondered how the two actually deliver when side by side.

Thanks

Mike

The PD105 is awesome on fuel, Easily get 55mpg and I loved it for that. The PD140 is heavier on the juice of course averaging 44-46mpg. It's awful for urban driving.

On the track is where it excels with the power and torque.

I do miss my DSG it was awesome but I couldn't stretch my funds to the PD140DSG when replacing.

Exactly Mike, I think it depends what you want it to be accurate with :)

I tried to measure mine over tanks when I was doing my normal/usual driving as possible. I also find that when conditions are constantly changing and with shorter runs, accuracy does suffer slightly. But you can't have everything, and it's definitely better than when it left the factory

I've a 2.0 tdi pd 140bhp 06 plate got in nov after my mk1 got smashed into. My new car had 95k new turbo, clutch and cam belt cost me £3345. I love it skoda forever!

And also bear in mind that if you are that way inclined the PD105 remaps very nicely to 140 bhp and even a little more if you like. I think the turbo etc are good for up to 150 bhp tops.

Phil

Yep, you'll also run into the higher end of what the injectors can deliver, north of 140bhp.

Best to stick around that 135-140 level, for sure

The 2.0pd 140 has no oil pump issues, this only relates to superb and passat. Only issues was po

rous head on earlier models but later ones are fine.

Only pd170 and scout had dpfs fitted. injector issues only relate to the vrs pd and does not affect the pd140

And audis A4 mainly

PD170 here no injector issues at all but good service history, I change oil every 5500miles and the DPF isn't really an issue. Sometimes it regenerates and sometimes it shows a light, but a good run in 4th gear @ <1750 rpm for 15 mins will clean the DPF of suit. A small bottle of DPF cleaner will work wonders  and youll never see it for a long time again lighting up. Although short runs are a killer for DPF engined cars as they become clogged with suit. Although the 105 1.9 is probably the best bet if your looking for something that's bulletproof and not concerned about power.
