3 days old and chipped!

Featured Replies

I took delivery of my Race Blue Octy III on Monday and it already has a small chip on the door.  Gutted!!

Any suggestions? Can you get chip touch up pens and if so where is the best/cheapest source?

Thanks

About £15 from your local Skoda dealer, might not be the cheapest but they match perfectly. If you're bothered enough to touch it up in the first place then you should do it right. ;)

I have successfully used Chipex (www.chipex.co.uk) on my Candy White Golf over the past few years. I have loads of the product left so it's a good thing I've ordered a Candy White Vrs to go with it :-)

But why are ALL recent cars so easily chipped ? Can't they make these new water based paints a little bit harder ??!!

I got quite a bad chip some 2" under the drivers door mirror (M6 rash?). I first used G7 scratch remover cream , followed by Chipstick to fill in the gouge, and then liberal polishing with the coloured polish did the trick - it's almost invisible now and certainly can't be noticed in normal use.

Sorry to hear it's been stone chipped already. When I saw the title I thought you'd chipped it as in under the hood ;)

I too recommend getting the touch up paint from your local dealer. Think mine cost me just under £12 the other week (two stone chips in my 3 month old car)

this was not the context of chipped I was expecting

I thought we where going to have the "Tuning Police" out in force on this thread.   Phew!

Nor me... i thought 'That's brave'....

Anyway on a more serious note sorry to hear about your new car. I got battered by a rock on the M5 which meant having the front O/S wing respayed when my car was less than 6 months old so I know how you feel. What ever you do don't get mixed on site stuff from Halfords- I did and it's not even a close match. I bought the chipex stuff too but haven't had to use it yet but it does look to be good stuff on their website. I've got some genuine Skoda stuff too which is an exact match (tried it out in the engine bay after the halfords problem)

Hope you get it sorted

If its bad,id think about using the proffessional chip removers, your dealer will probably have such company on his contacts as they usually sort used cars,as youv bought a new car from him and wants to sell you another in due course he might get it done foc, dont ask you dont get
