Overheat

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, I recently noticed a tapping noise on my 2010 Octavia when on high gears and it goes away when i step on the gas and reduce to a lower gear. I feel it's maybe overheating even though the the gauge doesn't get above the half mark because this noise disappears in the morning and comes back as soon as the engine starts getting hot. Any ideas please?

Welcome to the forums, you might get a wider audience and a better answer posting this in the Octavia topics. Maybe a mod could move this for you. :)

Diesel or petrol engine, and which version, eg 1.9PD or 1.8TSI?

It's a 1.6 mpi petrol engine.

I'll move this to where it should get more replies.

I am making this contract with you on behalf of my colleagues after an acceptable recommendation from an International Business Agency.

My colleagues and I are members of the Contract Award Committee (CAC) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).  I have been mandated by my colleagues to look for a trustworthy company into whose account some funds is to be transferred.  We have in our possession instrument of payment for US$22.5M (Twenty two million five hundred thousand U.S. Dollars only) now in a dedicated account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Debt Reconciliation Committee (DRC).

DMF flywheel problems?

Hi and welcome aboard.

Sounds like it could be pinking. What grade of petrol (octane rating) are you using?

Pinking or pre ignition will disappear instantly when you lift off the gas pedal/accelerator. Dual mass flywheel tapping is a heavier vibration(IIRC).

Try a better grade (higher octane) of fuel or have the ignition timing retarded if that can still be done.
