Is Citigo Sport Powerful enough and Heated Seats

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I hope you are well.

Just popped in from the Octy 3 section - You guys do seem to rate your CitiGos - which is good!

Hoping you can help with some questions I have.....

Can anyone tell me if they find the 64PS Model powerful enough for motorway work as it appears that the more powerful engine has been dropped? Does it feel like its working hard at 75/80 on motorways?

Secondly - Has Skoda dropped the heated seat option from the sport range as I cant select it on the configurator?

Kindest Regards

Im thinking white with the red stripes and multi spoke wheel upgrades look good :-)

No problems for me on the motorway with my Sport,in fact quite surprised how easy it keeps up with the traffic. As for the heated seats I think I am right in saying they have never even been an option for the Sports model.

The citigo sport has the 60ps engine. It will cruise at 80 all day long though. However if you do hit an incline you'll need to drop a cog or 2, although I'd say that's no worry as the gear change s lovely and slick.

The elegance does have the 75ps engine but this only makes a difference at about 4500rpm. Apparently the 60ps engine does remap to about 80ps ;)

I don't think heated seats is an option any more but the heater does get very hot, very quick.

Oh and the white with optional alloys is a good choice :D

The 75bhp engine was never available in the Sport, only the regular range.

But the 60bhp engine is fine with the same power as the 75bhp engine until you go past about 4,000-4,500 rpm.

No Citigo is going to set the world on fire (performance wise) but due to a very low kerbweight for a modern car (around 850kg) they are nippy and will do 100mph if you want to.

It just takes a little while to get there.

As much as I love my Citigo, it wouldn't be the car I'd buy if I was regularly using the motorway. A half-hour each way daily commute, with a big chunk of fast dual carriageway and it's fine though...

The person I'm thinking of would be half an hour commute each way on A roads and motorway - about 38 mile round trip - odd day out and than just the usual to the shops etc.

My company got me a hire car a few weeks ago and wanted to keep costs down (nice hey) and the firm dropped off a Peugeot 107! Not nice doing a 100 mile a day motorway trip....please tell me the Citigo is nicer than these or the Citroen C1s etc.....:-)

The Citigo is great on motorways and as said will sit at 80 very happily. I think it's far nicer than the models you mention :)

Thank you to everyone for your help.

Quite fancy a go in a sport model myself...the octavias not expensive to run but these are a whole new level surely....

Our Elegance 75 more than holds it own on the motorway and the seats are so comfortable and the CityGo has a wonderful driving position

The End

I currently have a Toyota Aygo - my Citigo will be ready around April - and I find it perfect for motorway driving, Can easily get to 100mph and cruising around 80mph is a doddle. I am anticipating the Citigo will be similar. Don't know why the reviewers always have a downer on small engine cars and motorway driving.

Because they test all cars and a Jag XF or a BMW 5 series is clearly a more comfortable and relaxing place to be if you're going to spend three hours at 70(ish) mph.

So by comparison they point out it's weaknesses, even if they are fine for the job.

I'm with Auric on this one. It is very comfortable and has a great driving position. In the rev range of its power it's just as good as anything else.

I agree with all that's been said re the Citigo and motorways/comfort. It's good on the motorway as in the town. Easily keeps up with the rest and I find myself not stuck in the left hand lane too much on motorways, it's eager get out into the fast lane. Just don't expect the mpg to be fantastic at 70+ mph though, it's quite respectable in the 50s but very good if you keep the speed down to a more sedate 60mph.

I've been driving a Kia Picanto over the last few days, ok it's nearly 4 years older than my Citigo but I am really glad I'm back in the Skoda, no contest.

Everyone's been really helpful, thank you for taking the time to reply.

They sound like a cracking little motor!

I have the sport in black. Its a fantastic car. Iv done a 3 hour drive mostly motorway and found it done well. I was used to a mondeo tdci before but i dont even miss it. The citigo is seems to be the best option around as far as city cars go

Driven (there & back) from North Yorkshire to Portsmouth over a weekend, 560 miles, 9-10 hours.

Perfectly fine on the motorway. Even with average speed cameras (no bother with cruise control).

Plus Citigo loves roundabouts.... corners very flat (IMO I've had Saxos, Micras, 340s 440s..which all wallowed/rolled in comparsion).

Just got back from a trip up to Scotland, covered 637 miles since Friday! Even though some of you may know that I'm trading my Sport in for another Citigo, the dealer told me I can put as many miles as I want on the car lol ....So I did! :)

The Citigo has got to be one of the best cars I've owned absolutely love them - it just soaked up the miles and it's more than at home cruising 70-80mph+ on the Motorway continuously whilst averaging a very respectable 55.6mpg over the entire trip. Never had one ache from sitting for a long period behind the wheel. (I'm 6'3)

Drove through wind, rain, ice and snow, all it's stride no problem! Hope the new Citigo 'S' can cope with all that lol :)

Me too. Our Elegance 75 is an automatic but that doesn't diminish it's motorway performance or overall comfort. I'm in Austria at the moment with our Yeti but would have had no worries about doing the same trip in the Citigo.

John

I really noticed that after 2k miles the engine just gets sweeter and it drives so much better than the first 1k miles. Very responsive and eager on the motorway.

I found the same. Mines on 4800 miles now and it's very loose. It gets well exercised :)
