PRNDS Flashing with odd gears working

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

i have a skoda laura auto L&K.fewdays back prnds started flashing suddenly.i made it to a private garage.he told me that it is a porblem in gateway(CANBUS).will cost about 12 to 16000 rupees for reappear else 50,000 for replacing it with working gateway of a crash car,but there is no garranty or warranty for the work.latter i went to skoda agency.they said it is a mechatronic unit problem and need a replacement.this will cost arround 2lacs rupees :heartbreak:  :wall:  :swear: .they will provide me with a warranty of 2 years.

now the problem is i search the internet and noticed that users having mechatronic unit problem, there car is not moving at all.no reverse no 1st gear no 2nd gear.whereas in my case there is no reverse.it takes 1 gear then across 4000 rpm it takes 3 gear.the same point was noticed by private car garage mechanic.he said he can fix it.there is some moisture in gateway unit.the mechatronic is all right.i think his point is right bt he is giving no g/warranty.

so plz help me asap plz plz

it wont be the can gateway, mechatronic failures are the most common on the DSG.  The failure can occur in many different ways, poor gear changes, wrong gear changes for example.

In the DSG box, you have one set of gears with first, third, fifth. The other set of gears has second, fourth and sixth. If the mechatronic is dying its possible that instead of first to second, the car could go first to fourth, because the wrong gear is selected on the other clutch.

Have you had the fault codes read using VCDS?.

PRNDS is on because the gearbox is in limp home mode.

they connected the car to computer which gave error pressure control solenoid open or short to earth (or any thing similar).

skoda agency or private mechanic?

there is a huuuuuge difference in repair cost.
