2001 Estate boot release

Anyone help?

I had a slight issue last year but it only happened a couple of times and then righted itself however again the boot release from the tail gate itself is playing up. Now much more frequently

Ive just looked at it, checked all connections and managed to rule out the microswich itself. I can stand there operating it fine, say 8 times, then it wont open/solenoid doesn't move. Cue press, press, press until a few operations later it'll start working fine again

I am assuming it's maybe the solenoid itself, unless it's the pulse of power to it...?

Anyone had similar?
