Rear Windscreen Wiper - Just Stopped

Featured Replies

After replacing the blade the wiper has decided to give up. Well it will move from time to time but is stuck at the moment in the middle of the screen.

Could this be a fuse and if so would the fuse effect other things if blow or is it the motor itsself that had given up.

If this has already been discussed please point me in the right direction

Thanks

Check the boot is closed.

Really, would this do it....? I think the boot is closed as its not showing that its open on my dash board

Thanks

Yep.  My rear wiper won't work if boot not properly closed.  However, the wiper gave up on my 18month/16K miles Octavia.  New wiper motor fitted under warranty.  A common Octavia fault it seems with many posts on here reporting the fault.

Hi I had the same problem at Christmas;  wiper would work then wouldn't slamming the boot seemed to bring it back to life then it stopped again, so i thought about the two two options, sod it  or fix it, before shelling out £75 on a new motor I thought try good old  WD40. I removed the arm  pulled the boot away from the spindle and squirted half a small can in the "hole" since then i have had three weeks uninterrupted use, I have an estate, however I think hatches have issues with leaking  washer tubes that rust the rotor and stator or possibly the bearings that will burn out the stator.

I have to deal with similar damage regularly on the laboratory pumps that I repair, a Stator failure is usually as the result of external additional load  such as rust or grime in the case of the estate.
