  • OK both of my vRS estates, CAVE and CTHE have burned oil at a cost of £30-40 per annum and I dare say were and are operating at full efficiency and within VAG specification. I just keep a close eye o

I think he thinks REVO are getting a big up from me, and i benefit.

But as you possibly know, i am probably the one to most often warning Twincharger owners from REVO Remaps to the 1.4 TSI CAVE.

I use there link because it is readily available to show the engines & cars likely to suffer the issues.

There is no such Documents or Published Publicly List from the 4 VAG Manufacturers or i would link it.

Blah blah blah

Decided what car to buy yet?

LOL. that even never crossed my mind! What a leap of imagination that is.

So say if I am posting a link to an article published say on Yahoo! webpage, or Autocar Mag then I must be surely b4ll$ deep in their pockets

What for? Too much fun to be had over here without it!

I'm not trying to troll here, but, VAG also have big problems with their 2.0TFSI engine, don't know exactly which engine codes, same effect as with the 1.4TFSI drinking litres of oil! A bit of a mess up with piston design I think, rebuilt engines get new pistons and con rods etc. Me, I'm lucky as I appear to have dodged a bullet with that one and grabbed an S4 instead, still a close run thing though.

My current problem is, wife has 2002 Polo 9N 1.4 75PS with over 100K miles, logic dictates that her next car will be a VAG petrol car, probably Polo, and if not a newish 1.4 85PS one, then one with quite a bit more grunt - and that takes her into "engine trouble likely" territory.

Do VAG think our commitment to brand loyalty blinds us?  Probably does to the majority of folk that don't/can't look after their own cars, but I can't see any smart DIYers willingly continuing to be VAG customers - unless they like a challenge!

I'd think that current sales prove that we are wrong, the engine issues are just a bit of a nuisance and lots of mugs will carry the cost!

THERE HAS ALSO BEEN A MARKED INCREASE OF VEHICLES FAILING BETWEEN 20000 - 50000 MILES,HENCE SKODA HAVE NOW BUILT UP A STOCK OF REPLACEMENT RECON ENGINES ,AFTER NOTING THE INCREASE IN COMPLAINTS.

YOU COULD BE NEXT!

Dave's CAVE vRS got to 50k, mine is 40k, doing 100 miles a day and going well. Any evidence of these engines being stockpiled?

My dealer ,having ordered the replacement engine directly on the stock location in UK, told me that they were now getting stock in place to satisfy the recent upsurge (relatively speaking) in replacement demand. ENGINE WAS DELIVERED FROM STOCK IN APPROX 7 DAYS. Installed within 2 weeks of order placement.

In the words of the Master Tech at my dealer, "Skoda UK seem to be giving the go ahead for replace far more readily than previously, for that very reason that UK stock was now available and not on a back order basis."

Glad to hear that Dave and your motors are going well-enjoy!

Bump for Sittingbull

Mine's now on 45k, topped up 500ml the other day. My mileage has dropped a lot (100 miles a day to 16 miles) so will be interesting to see if oil consumption increases. But the roads are the same. Nice and fast A and B roads.

George, search online for any product or service and you'll probably find a number of reports of issues.

But overall the numbers reporting issues will be a tiny fraction of other people completely happy and without any issues at all.

Unless media sources receive direct correspondence from customers affected they can't investigate and confront these companies and make it hit the headlines.

If you have suffered the oil issue, dsg issues or issues with anything else in life tell the media. Use twitter, Facebook etc etc.

Unfortunately the motoring press never really got interested in supporting the Fabia vRS MK2 OWNERS AND THEIR ENGINE ISSUES,even though they had the full picture.

To much in bed with the manufacturer, especially VAG.

They have now moved on to the next flavour of the month -Skoda Fabia mk3 and all things Paris.

The very advanced 1.4 TSI Twincharger 132-136 Kw does get a mention at least,

but here they seem to think it is Computer Confusion on Twincharging, and again miss the Elephant in the Volkswagen Group room,

and that it was Engine Management Design Failures & Quality Control of Parts, and lack of action from VW or concern for the buying public.

I wonder if their Media Campaign launching the 2015 Polo GTI will have those that heard of 2011-2014 failures care or not,

and buy one or avoid at all cost,

or they are just aiming at a new custom base that were put off by no manual car.

I won't repeat a post from elsewhere, but will simply say that I will be trying to get the ridiculous attitude displayed by Skoda UK highlighted, whether via the press or by using legal means.

Bumping this yet again sorry.

Really because many have had replacement engines, or just punted cars and they stay around and the problems go on.

Even though there are people contacting the Media, Press & Motoring Press,

only

Honest John seems to cover the issues.

If you have had issues, maybe get a few Emails off the Editors, & Motor Journalists, of  Car, Autocar, Auto Express, What Car, EVO,

 VW Driver, Audi Driver  etc.

& to BBC Watchdog.

I've heard twitter can be a useful tool for getting companies to take notice.

Saving 'Twitter' for the delivery of the Launch of the All New 3rd Generation Skoda Fabia,

& any problems buyers have and poor Skoda Customer Services if there is any.

Alasdair Stewart Brand Director Skoda UK likes positive Media Coverage & Spin,

lets see if he can control negative coverage on Twitter in the UK.

He has not done the right thing yet or had his Employers at the Volkswagen Group,

& call in Twinchargers & have them checked over under a Service Campaign.

I must say I'm really quite disappointed in SKODA, I always used to have Audis but i grew tired of them being nice a pie when I'm buying a car but couldn't give a t*ss when something when wrong. I changed to skoda as I read that they scored very highly in the JD power customer satisfaction surveys so I figured I should be getting the same great engines but with better customer service.

WRONG!!! I've had my Fabia 6 months and its already died. It's exactly the same! The skoda garage left me without a car and weren't interested in fixing it and it's only after I kicked and screamed that it's now starting to get repaired. Starting to regret getting my fabia now as they seem to be riddled with potential issues. Gob smacked in this day and age people still sell cars like this.....there not MG ROVER!!

BUMP for MrTommo of EVO Magazine.

Such a pity EVO was not on the case for Twincharger Owners with issues while the cars were in production.
