Footwell lights on a vRS ?

Featured Replies

I was thinking the same thing. I'm wondering if ekta will shed any light? Anyone with access care to have a look?

The wiring has to be there surely? I can't see them designing country specific looms especially as options that are offered will change through the product life cycle.

Use google translate This is the ekta page

If I was to retrofit, I'd hook up to map / door open light in roof. single cable to run down and the footwell lights will come on when the doors are opened and should stay on for a period of time. Plus, if you connected them after the manual map light switch, you could switch them on / off yourself, good for if you loose a penny on the floor.

No, no wiring. If the wire does not have a purpose, it won´t be there - trust me. There is different looms for each level of equipment as well. I.e. if the car is made without speakers in the rear doors, you won´t find any wires there either.

+1,

there will not be a loom there, VAG do not fit looms for anything not specked at the time of ordering.

But if you wire it up to the CECM as it would be done in the factory you will also have the ability to control them in the maxidot.

So these footwell lights, are these something else that is very possible, but just not allowed by SUK? Seemingly other countries are getting them. I wonderif the reason we dont get them in the UK, is another VAG restriction? I cant think what it is for now.

Me think it's going to be complicated at best or just impossible. Ah well. Maybe come change time they'll be available!

Right this kit you can buy from maplins, its about £20 and is fairly easy to fit in and remove ...no hard wiring !!! Easy ... The kit contains a 12v cig. Plug a dimmer/control/on/off (box which is tiny!) and four self adhesive led strips (mine are blue but i believe white is available!?)

This kit has a dimmer/on-switch and plugs into your cigarette lighter (by the handbrake)

This is the only downside as the kit has to be plugged in and out to be on or off

But you can hide the plug when not in use ! Below the drivers seat

All the wiring is tucked under the sides of the central column, for the front lights and the rear wires can be hidden behind the rear ash tray below the AC vents !

Any questions please fire away :D

Are these the ones???  http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-in-car-blue-led-strips-6-leds-a93lb

SUK really should stop hamstringing the options list in the UK....christ the Elegance has standard high beam assist would it really have been too much to ask to fit illuminated vanity mirrors and footwell lighting to these cars from the factory too?

Just a thought and a potential defense for Skoda UK but these options may be unavailable due to the car being RHD.

RenaultSport do not offer upgraded Bose sound systems on RHD megane sports as the amp is located somewhere that is unavailable in a RHD car and then enigeering required to offer the option wouldn't be cost effective.

Fair point but unlikely as irish cars get the additional spec that is generally available throughout the rest of the EU. In some ways out cars are sometimes better specified in terms of standard spec (eg the vRS coming with 18" wheels and lane assist in the UK and not on the continent) but we seem to miss out on some of the lower cost useful options other markets are afforded or have as standard spec.

Nothing to do with that at all unfortunately.

The CECM is under the dash and you simply need to add a couple of (repair) wires to the existing plug and turn the option on with VCDS.

The whole kit (that uses genuine OE parts) can be bought from bold sport for less than it would cost to buy the parts and make up your own loom.

(it is not clear if the loom is still included now in the bold sport kit - the photo shows it but the description does not)

Odd when the Leon has standard footwell lights from se trim (it may be standard on the s but I dunno)
